I held fire after the game yesterday, as i listend to it on the raido, but after watching it last night i have to say that many of the doom and gloom comments about our performence, Moyes Tactics, etc are extreamly harsh.
West Ham played some great stuff yesterday and were dangerous, but for me we looked strong and resiliant in the face of anything they could throw at us which we havnt in previous games. Away games are all about containmnet of the home side and being clinical if you get oppurtunites that we certainly were.
Personaly i am encouraged with yesterdays performence, you saw some great qualities in the Everton side resiliance, comitment and being clinical. I was immensely pleased with the expierence showed in getting a result yesterday which imo was telling in nicking the game.
Im scratching my head in terms of some of the comments i read here after the game yesterday, i thought Cahill had a great game in midfiled very dogged, commited and made some important tackles for me he very much led the team yesterday and i think some of the charicter and desire in his play in some ways dictated the result.
Saha too, even before the golas, i thought he played extreamly well in terms of the context of his games thus far, a very comited performence some of his movement into channells and his desire were fantatic through out the game, and his goals topped it of.
Lescott for me had his best game of the season yesterday i thought he was strong, positive, resiliant and comitted and played extreanly well, it looks like he is coming back into a bit of form, and i think the fact he got a goal and was available in the box in many ways dictated his performence.
I have to say although our midfeild still was poor centrally it looked better balanced with Rodwell in the side, we have a great player on our hands here, and he could be the force we are looking for creatively centrally, he does get a couple of chances in games doesnt he. I would almost be tempted to go with a Fellini, Rodwell, Cahill partnership against Boro.
So in actual fact i think yesterday was one of our best performences of the season, if you know your football, containment, resilance, and being clinical are vital components in terms off winning rainy away games. For me i thought yesterdays performence was immense and personaly i dont think we were lucky in any way, i feel i can take more positives out of yesterdays games then negatives, and in terms of performences i am encouraged about yesterday rather then any other this season. Notable good performences where also Vic Vaghan, and Howard.
I havent felt like saying that we have turned a corner after our previous wins, but i beleive after yesterday i think we have, after the game you could see what the result meant to the players.
So less of the doom and gloom about yesterdays performence as for me it was an extreamly, resiliant, committed and clinical performece. I am extramly pleased with how we played yesteday in the context of our form up to this point in our season.
