Sharpys top lip

Player Valuation: £60m
Right as this drags on. Lets keep all this talk of a contract in one thread. This one.....

Just been on SSN....

After saying he would sing a 5 year contract before the Newcastle game their was a few problams that needed sorting out. Now he says it will be signed before the Arsenal game a week saturday.

Is it just me, or is someone taking the piss here?

FFS, Just sign it!!

I'm telling you mate, Bill is the one holding things up. I don't think Moyes can get hold of it at the moment. He overplayed his hand in the summer and now with this terrible drop in form, Bill is altering some of the terms and conditions.

Blame Bill all you want Nebb, if their are still issues with the deal why did moyes say this?

"I am here and I will sign a new contract with Everton very shortly, maybe even before the weekend.
"Things are with lawyers now and everything might be done before the weekend."

He has said in other places the same, and also said that all issues are sorted.

Too many conflicting stories, but why does it always have to be Bill's fault.

People have told pip too shut up and start acting, maybe Moyes should take the same advice.

I agree, I think Bill can sense the fan unrest at Moyes not signing the contract so he's the one in the driving seat until Moyes gets the results to buy him some more time.

I'm not blaming Bill, I'm blaming Moyes. Moyes could have signed it ages ago and but chose not to. There was always something he had to do first. He left everyone dangling. Now I think the form of the team coupled with Moyes' attitude over the summer has made Bill more wary. I think he is holding it up to see if there is an improvement. If I was Bill I might well do the same.

Its Moyes dithering and getting details changed/ammended. He said the contract was with his lawyers and "might" be signed by the weekend (so it not being signed aint a surprise being he said "might" be).

It looks as though --
The board draw up a contract.
Moyes gets the contract.
Moyes makes ammendments and sends it back.
Board chop and change and send it back to Moyes
Rinse and repeat.

I can see it taking time. Changing clauses, payments etc are something you cant just tip-ex out and re-write, it filters down across the board -- finances, staff, aims, goals, structure etc -- it affects a lot more that just Moyes and Kenwright.

Saying that though.....it shouldnt take this fooking long.

Sorry buddy. I misinterpreted.

Ignore my last post then. (y)(y)

The problam with all this is. If moyes stays now, what sort of relationship will they have?. We need both pulling in the right direction.

Typical balls up by Everton.

Moyes was defending Kenwright in the papers last weekend, saying how they're still hold a close relationship, calling each other, and how Kenwright does everything for the club blah blah -- was a bit gushy so I dont think Moyes and Bill have a poor relationship -- this is just business.

These discussions are getting increasingly irritating. None of us have any real clue what's been going on behind the scenes, who's said what, or what issues there may be with the contract. Those who accuse Moyes of 'dithering' or Kenwright of imposing obstacles are simply revealing their own prejudices, as we have no way of knowing whether either of these things is true.

What is certain is that the whole saga has been a sorry episode for the club, has fostered an atmosphere of uncertainty among fans and players, and that the various comments made by Moyes and Kenwright over the last few months have done little to help the situation.

Great post Tad. Well put.

Moyes seemed to contradict Bill in the summer regarding a couple of things. Now all of a sudden, when Bill is very, very quiet, he starts paying compliments. To me that sounds like he is doing a wee bit of sucking up just to get back in Bill's good books. Or maybe not.

It really doesn't matter now when the contract is signed. It should have been done back in July. Both are to blame imo.
