I think you're massively over-negative in regards to Martinez. He's a lot better than Rodgers; it was Martinez who started the Swansea revolution and their climb up the leagues with HIS style of play. He worked miracles keeping Wigan up as long as he did. He also unearthed many bargains in the transfer market for Wigan, which he later sold on for substantial profit, so I'm really not sure why you are fearing him in the transfer market. He's proven himself to be a good operator overall.

didnt we pay about 17 Million for him, why couldn't we have negotiated a higher release fee, that's only 5 Million return on him hes worth a bit more.

But it won't be; because of the clause in his contract.

If he's going, we're getting a maximum of £22m. End of story.

Is there any acual proof that is his buy out clause because in a sky artical today it said it was 15million which leaves me to belive no one know and everyone is just guessing.

because after 4 years they have just gone down man  its why I dont get why people are so optermistic if he was so good in the market why couldnt he get the players to keep them up and if he was that good something must be wrong if the lads werent playing for him to get them out of the ****e. One of my work collague's is a Wigan ST holder and he said Diame was not getting played by martinez the season before he left yet this season he has been one of the best CDM's in the league, now for a team lacking defensively why was martinez overlooking Diame? Theirs questions that need to be asked for me and this whole "he had to sell 20 players a season" and "he won the cup" doesnt answer them for me.

I'll support him but I think their are tough times ahead

just our luck I guarantee our head scout was boss, wigan's on the other hand I have my doubts, sunderland have apparantly taken on inter milan's head scout just shows how lacking of ambition we are

Di Canio is an idiot, he'll be lucky to still be there this time next year.

Martinez made some good signings - scouted Victor Moses and signed him for £2.5m from Crystal Palace in Jan 2010, sold him to Chelsea for £9m in Aug 2012. Nearly £7m profit in 1 & 1/2 seasons.

Daily Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...joining-David-Moyes-at-Manchester-United.html

While Everton are adamant about their desire to retain Baines, Kenwright acknowledged he would be helpless if a £23 million offer materialised for Marouane Fellaini from a team already qualified for the Champions League.

wasnt exactly good scouting mate he was a highly rated young english player, its like saying Utd are brilliant for scouting the unknown zaha...

Moses was the best player in the Championship that season, and Palace had to sell him cheaply because they needed the money urgently. It sickened me that we didnt go in for him, tbh.

I find the idea of a 'release clause' quite distasteful. Unless it's for something like 80 million or a reflection on inflation with regards to the world of insane finances in football then it is just wrong.

22 million? That's 22 million for one of the most highly sought after central midfielders. Or 2 million more than Stewart Downing and 13 million LESS than Andy Carroll.

Why this was considered acceptable I have no idea. We paid 15 for him in the first place when he was raw.

I hope he stays as I would be disgusted if he bailed out on the dawn of a new era at the club. He should give it at least till January or I would lose any respect I had left for him.

I can see where Bluenose1995 is coming from. I've got every faith in Martinez but it's very important he doesn't let us down on that front. Take for an example, the rumour about us wanting McGeady. If that turned out to be true (I think its bullish!t) and we spent £5m on him and he was one of our top summer signings. I'd feel a bit let down, we'll have gone from Mirallas, leroy fer and Negredo to a rank average former Celtic lad.
But as I say, every faith he's got the next Falcao tucked up his sleeve ready for our no.9 :)

Had thought he was staying until Bill effectively advertised that he was for sale at yesterday's presser.

Anyone given any thought to the fact this was effectively orchestrated prior to the prezzer by Bill and Bob, im guessing martinez now he finally is in charge of a team which can attract a much higher caliber than wigan could that he may fancy his chances at bringing in a few targets he knows about but could never afford, the influx of a sale of felli could give him his war chest and he's okayd the advertising of him to a host of clubs by Bill
