I was quietly confident that today would be the day that we pulled a performance out the bag which would kick start our season. But yet again, another dire display, and we are looking in a very bad position at the moment. I am one of David Moyes' biggest fans, but its come to a situation were Kenwright should issue an ultimatum, sign this week or your out. Moyes is taking the supporters that idolise him for a ride. I honestly dont think that he has any intention of signing this contract. I could understand it him saying he wanted to wait until the deadline had passed etc, but it is now the end of September, and even though he has told us many times it will be signed in the next few days, he has still failed to commit. Even the club have come out and said that they are baffled as he has lost over 200 grands worth of wages.

And onto my final point, why is Mikel Arteta still taking our set pieces? Corner after corner, he fails to get the ball past the first man, and I am never confident about him scoring a free kick anymore either. Maybe someone like Osman could take the responsibility from now on.

I dunno mate, would you have posted that today if we had won? Moyes has given his word not only to the fans, media but also to the players when they were signing and signing new contracts. I beleive he has a genuine affection for the club and i dont think he will break it. He will sign a contract but i am a bit suspicious as to why it is taking so ong im cuious as to get out clauses etc.

About Artetas set pieces - i would prefer hibbert taking them rather than Arteta - they are terrible.

Moyes is taking the piss not signing the contract. Its gota be about his own wages, other wise it wouldve been signed at the end of the transfer window...

Well if he is intending on signing, and that appears to be undecided at the moment, I would assume that the wage is settled and Moyes and Bill are arguing, or rather negotiating, a number of clauses and the like. There might be get-out clauses, performance related pay if Moyes wins a trophy, qualifies us for Europe and so on. I'm starting to get a wee bit miffed with him that he is taking so long now. He needs to sign it otherwise it appears apparent to me at least, that his future is not at Goodison Park.

You dont need to look to the manager for a game like today - a Derby. The contract talk is an irrlebvancy. I was confident prior to today's game too. We could have used that as a springboard to start the season. Unfortunately - and it pains me to say this - but we have players in that squad who are completely [Poor language removed]-scared and/or mesmerised by Liverpool. Liverpool have better players than us, but they are well short of the class of United and Chelsea and Arsenal. Matching their workrate and passion to win could easily have overcome them. The players [Poor language removed] up today...as they have a habit of doing against Liverpool.

Do you think moyes has them playing arsenal like football in training but on a match day we suddenly start hoofing it to a loan striker with no support? when the whole crowd can see we are getting taken apart but he doesnt change it till we are two nil down? i agree the players are [Poor language removed] but don't let moyes of that easy.

Exactly, its Moyes' fault if the team doesnt perform. As an example - Artetas set pieces - it doesnt take a genius to realise that the are [Poor language removed] at this moment in time - so why doesnt Moyes tell Osman or Yakubu to take them?!

There is no hiding place for Moyes and I'm not attempting to provide one. We have played absolutely [Poor language removed] all season and it's not good enough. We've played decent football under Moyes in the past, usually against sides inferior or as good as us. If we want results against SKY 4 sides you need better players who can play better football and you need lots of cash to bring them in. My main point is that this 'contract' explanation for every defeat is a non-explanation and its plainly getting out of hand.

To be honest Dave, Moyes' chief skill as a manager is in motivating people. So why has the team lost all its motivation? Moyes needs to look close to home for that answer.

I agree davek the contract excuse is rubbish. the style of football we play is lazy football, we could have the best passer in the world in midfield and he would look crap. our players dont show for the ball they pass it and stand still, we are easy to mark. you dont need to spend big to play the game properly its all about drumming it into the players in training.

Something is wrong behind the scenes, mate. He looks a defeated man. Maybe a new manager would be for the best. Regardless of that though, a local Derby is a local Derby. I'd expect some level of professionalism and self-motivation.

I was thinking about that earlier on and wondered whether Moyes has reached that point where his heart is just not in it anymore. Moreover, the man might just be literally shattered with all the work involved. He's paid handsomely, but the work is non-stop if you're a Moyes type character.
