Liverpool Echo Throws Dummy Out Of Pram

The articles linked to bulk their "we did all this year's ago" are on the back of other news sources stories or from pre match interviews with Moyes. Not one is them sitting and questioning someone from the club with concrete answers apart from the investment one... That even the Beano did a article on.

Correct. Firefighters and flak catchers. That's all they are. They know it too.

As much as we hope all this is the beginning of big changes at Goodison, deep down we all know nothing will change
this is the paper that devoted page after page to DK including a front pae spread by Terry Leahy on why it had to happen,
an article by Dom King telling us that Coventry could teach us poor Evertonians a few things about the need to move forward
yet said nothing about the lies and incompetance of the board when the move was thrown out so i dont hold any great hopes
of anything happening

The fact that the club sent a 'source' to answer what were very straightforward, reasonable questions hints at the level of paranoia that pervades GP. Not one of those questions would be considered sinister to somebody with nothing to hide.

TBH they probably dont have anything to hide - at least in terms of really bad behaviour, they are just doing it out of reflex because they dont have any ideas of how else to deal with this situation, and dont really have any ideas about how to move the club onward.

Take the BU for instance - if Elstone was thinking clearly he wouldnt ban them from meetings, he would just insist that all of them were recorded.

Local papers are almost always that though when it comes to the big local clubs, they have to be or they ruin a real risk of going out of business.

The tone of the echo's response is like a kid frantically saying he doesn't wet the bed when teddy stinks of piss - amateurs.

the only way this will lead to anything is if collymore goes off on the club and paper and continues on it. only then will any light of this joke of a club be exposed.

someone should tell Stan on Twitter ' methinks the lady form protest too much' where there's smoke, there's fire.

I'd say all the things Bill has come out with regarding the sale of the club while looking for an exorbitant price(years ago too) was, for them, worth hiding. I listened and it sounded like Stan had to really press for an answer. I think they shot a figure quite a bit lower than the real one they look for(don't forget it changes daily) thinking that'd be the last of it.

The uproar has shocked them all and now they can't go back quick enough. By the end of the week they'll be denying they gave permission and some low level lackey will take the fall for a tidy pay-off and Collymore will get a jam tomorrow promise off them too to keep schtum.

I wasn't defending the echo or arguing the toss, I'm just advising you reign in the glee because although I'd love it, I'm not sure this is going to ring wholesale changes even though it probably should.

It probably could.

If a bit of a curve ball was thrown into the ring, like e-mailing Robert Earl or other board members, with a considerable amount of e-mails, asking if the price quoted is accurate and why they believe they should get such a high mark up as a return, Bill would have to answer some questions.

People like Earl don't like their business being out in the open, especially if figures are bandied around, let alone shadowy lurkers et in Arcadia.

Bill is supposed to take the flak. It's why this has dragged on, he doesn't care, he's prepared to, or has no choice. Someone else getting dragged into it well, it just wouldn't do would it?

Can picture Bill n Bob being dragged into the boss's office...

but it was quite obvious from very early on that it was Tyrell, I only wish it had still been Wossy

The club owner's coping mechanism when stuff like this kicks off:

  • send for the Echo
  • work a few pints the way of a few ex-players
  • hint there's a buyer on the horizon
  • attack the Blue Union / KEIOC / some Japanese dentist
  • threaten legal action
  • underline work done in Everton in the Community
  • pray for matchday to come around so it's off the radar

Hats off to you - brilliant summary.
