Well, did you?

Because you'd be lying if you said you did. He was utterly anonymous.

Blinded by goals. He's effective in a unit built around him.

Exactly and he won't get that comfort zone here. One of the typical Sky fans favourite players though as you can see on this thread.

Spot on. And when you ask what he offers other than goals the responses are just 'lol' or 'ok mate'.

He's not just got for a 30 yard toe ender, his awareness of what's around him on the pitch, his ability to pick passes short and long range and crossing from free-kicks and corners are just a few of his attributes, he's a great player and has been for 10 years, as if we could get him.

He's on 150k a week mate. Mata was signed on a 60k per week contract.

Why would they keep Lampard when they could feasibly sign two Mata quality players for lower wages ?

Of course they don't want to keep him in their current situation, I didn't say they would want to. But he isn't washed up by any means. Teams like us aren't in the position to "sign two Mata quality players".

He's a damn good passer of the ball and links up wingers and the centre forward extremely well, him and Drogba were fantastic together for example.

Brennan sometimes I feel like you just like to play Devil's Advocate? He's a quality player mate.

I wouldn't want Lampard mate.

Obviously in a situation where finances weren't an issue then sound, but i honestly don't think he'd contribute enough to us to justify dropping Felli or Gibson for him.

I'm not sure that agreeing with the majority in life is any way of proving or disproving a point tbh.

I absolutely don't get the hype surrounding Lampard on his current form. He scores goals, but he's a central midfielder not a striker, and he doesn't do enough as a midfielder. In the game against us his only two real moments of note were the goals.

It's funny, if you go back a year you'd find loads of posts on here from people saying how gash Gerrard was playing, but he was doing exactly what Lampard is doing now. Floating around, picking the odd hollywood pass but otherwise not contributing much to the game and then popping up with goals.

Fair enough, I'd personally love him to link up with Jelavic. The best bit in this thread is where people think it might be an actual possibility us signing him to be honest, I'm only treating it like FM.

Gets ready to post new formation with Frank in it*

Which won the game for them.

Goals are THE most important contribution to the game from any player bar your defenders.
