CONFIRMED: Moyes Leaving - All Reaction Here

Please name a manager who has managed in the Premier League who could have achieved more with the same budget?

Please name the mistakes he makes and what you'd do to rectify them.

That's a completely hypothetical situation. Different managers are more/less successful at different clubs. Are you saying Moyes is the only manager to do what he has done?

Look at Sam Allardyce at Bolton he had them fighting for Champions League on more than one occasion yet hasn't delivered anything like that at other clubs who are bigger than Bolton.

And all he has to show for it is being above every other club with a similar budget. If only he were more unpredictable.

Seriously we've only finished below 1 other club with a similar budget in 6 years (Newcastle last season). If you think ANY manager could get us into the top 4 with our current budget you aren't being realistic.

There's no way anyone could seriously argue with that. But it just makes it even more baffling that people defend the fella who's put us in that position.

I don't like Moyes but he's done his job despite the clown holding us back.

Nothing is going to happen now till the end of the season for different reasons.

It,s a shame that the owners can,t pack up and go and leave us with our manager, best players but it seems our fans would rather take the road of a future of empty pockets, ageing infrastructure and no plan B.

Swansea are a well run club. Much like West Brom

They have a full time Chairman who runs the club, and they have a head coach rather than a manager.

This means that the structure remains even when the head coach leaves.

When Martinez/Sousa/Rodgers left they simply bought in a manager who liked to play the same type of football.

If Moyes left we'd be f*cked simply because the club have put all eggs in the Moyes basket. If he goes and takes his staff with him then there is nobody left. That is a scary thought.

If we replaced Moyes with Laudrup the reality is we'd do worse.

And for all the talk of Swansea's flowing football in the 4 games I've seen us play against them we've been the only team playing football.

That’s just your opinion. You are entitled to your opinion but it is not reality.

Everton currently have a good squad of players, I don’t think any of those players with maybe the exception of Neville are more loyal to the manager than the club. If someone like Laudrup came in, they could with a bit of work, change the style of play to one more suited. The thing which sets Laudrup apart from the others you mentioned, for me, is that he has shown the ability to change Swansea’s style to suit the situation. He’s shown that he can shut up shop and try and hit teams on the break when it’s needed. They did this at Goodison and arguably still had the best chance of the game. They’ve done it a few times, he doesn’t seem to have a one-style-suits-all approach to management, he took the Swansea style and he adapted it to be more direct when they needed it to be, and also more defensive when they needed that. If he could replace one or two of the current midfield with pace in wide areas, then it opens the game up, and gives you many more options. Moyes’ system appears to create the better chances for the midfielders, but our midfield players are not blessed with goals. We task the midfield with a high workload and then have small, average athletes trying to cover large areas of ground.

Moyes cant either though.

Here's an idea, might be controversial but if Moyes goes (and believe me I don't want him to) how about getting Big Joe Royle back as manager, even for just a year. The fact that clowns like Mcleish can walk in and out of jobs when a decent guy like Joe has not had a managerial role for a while is astounding.

Or is the board playing their cards close and seeing what is going to happen?
The board has a 7-2 offsuit.

It would be more ludicrous to split it up into seasons where he has spent more and still never managed to win anything.
How come people rarely suggest the managers who won a League Cup as a replacement?

McLeish? McClaren? Souness? O'Neill? Little?

He has spent money whether people like it or not. NET spend has nothing to do with it when hes recieved massive transfer fees and pumped all the money back in.
Your inability to grasp the significance of the concept of net spend is baffling.

Team A: They are an 8/10 squad. They sell a single player for 50m and buy a replacement for 50m.

Team B: They are an 8/10 squad. They sell nobody and buy a new player for 50m.

Let's assume both new players are worth the 50m. By your logic team A and B are still the same rating as they "spent the same amount of money." It's an indefensible position. Nevertheless, even if we accept that logic, Everton are 17th in net spend over the last 5 years. We're 13th by gross spend. Do Everton finish above or below 13th most years? Even the argument you want to make doesn't really hold up.

No 'big name' manager will want this job when Moyes goes, not when there's no funds to spend without sales. It'll end up being someone from the lower leagues, with them selling us on the idea of it being 'the next Moyes'. The chances of it being actually that in reality are quite remote.

This I reckon, or someone out of a job from abroad who hasn't managed here before.

And we are back to the logical fallacy of wanting rid of a manager who has put together a great squad.

Swansea had the right idea. They already had Laudrup the top of their list before Rodgers had even left. They knew a club would come in for him and planned for it.

I'd hope we could somehow snatch Laudrup from them if Moyes leaves. In fact I'd be more than happy if the board called Moyes' bluff and said we've got Laudrup lined up, thanks and good luck.

I get the feeling that Moyes is testing the waters to see if any jobs come up, and if they do he'll be off, if they don't he'll stay. That really shouldnt be the case.

Can't see us getting anyone like Laudrup. Purely because if Moyes goes at the end of his contract we won't get any compensation. To get someone like Laudrup in (especially someone so new to their club and doing well) would involve us paying significant compensation. Much like our transfers it's largely sell-to-buy. Perhaps some could come out of the new tv money/jan leftovers (if that still exists), but then that will have a knock on effect on our budget for players. Therefore I see it being either someone from lower leagues (so less comp) or someone currently out of contract, either at home or abroad. Probably Fellaini will go to provide funds for the new manager to get in some new players of his own, and possibly to pay his comp too.

Maybe we have a new man throwing his hat in the ring today, Pope Benedict.

I've always thought while we have the current board in charge that the manager would have to perform a minor miracle or an act of God for us to finish top four. I hear he has good connections with the youths in the Bundesliga.

I think all parties could benefit from a fresh start. He's done a good job but 11 years and I don't feel we're any closer to a trophy and he hasn't learned from mistakes he was making 7/8 years ago.

In a nutshell.

He steadied the ship and that's it - time to try a new face - and I don't mean a Batman mask.
