Has Fellaini really got a £22m buyout clause in his contract ?

But where would that leave Moyes? He has already said we won't be selling anyone in January. If Fellaini IS sold this month as the result of a release clause being triggered then I guess the club could 'hide' behind that fact, "it was out of our hands" etc. But if he is sold and it isn't a result of a release clause, then how do the club explain that one away, especially as it is obvious that Moyes doesn't want to sell him. What sort of message is that putting out to people about our ambitions?

Moyes isn't going to say 'well we might sell Felli or Baines if the right bid comes in', is he ? Saying we're not selling is hardly out of the ordinary.

Its funny how the speculation about a release clease has only come about since Fellaini said he would stay until the end of the season, and then later he would see out his contract.

Media stirring????

Moyes will know what is in his contract. If there is such a clause though, Moyes needs to tie up a deal for a replacement before he is sold, otherwise prices will double with clubs knowing we are looking for a replacement with cash to burn. As long as he doesn't leave it until the last minute on deadline day to sell, like Arteta.

There has been talk of a clause in his contract since well before that.

Smells of someone trying to unsettle a player. A release clause doesnt need to be out in public so someone has either made it up or got info off reps and leaked it out to the media in an attempt to unsettle the player and the club he plays for. Plenty of players have release clauses in their contracts but you dont see new articles making the front page of BBC Sport do you, to me its someone trying to unsettle EFC as a whole, and its ****ing snidey.

agree mate like Ive been saying Moyes needs to tell it how it is but the club never gives it the media

It says that we are a smart business. When you can profit 10 million on a 15 million pound investment, you have to do it. We have debt, not a lot, but enough that it effects our policies. This needs to be eased along with adding 12 million of signings into the squad. I trust Moyes in his ability to scout 3 out 4 succesfull transfers which would replace Fellaini, Neville, Hibbo.

If anyone bids £30m for him we'd never see a transfer go through so fast mate!

Food for thought is that, RVP went from Arsenal for £24m.... I know that he only had 6 months on his contract but any product is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay.

We should be delighted of the prospect of getting anything above £22m, It's what Moyes does! Yes a lot of the money will disappear but we'll end up with a couple of signings, possibly 3 with a loan, and have a stronger squad... (not better players! a stronger squad)

THIS!

Has there? There has been very little from the media until recently. And nothing but a few whisperings amongst supporters prior to that.

When such speculation occurs, and in this case we know its a matter of when not if, I'd prefer the player in question to go asap as to not unsettle the team and leave no bad blood behind. If anyone bids big for him this month I'd rather see him gone, than waiting till the summer in the hope that somebody bids then.
Remember hearing/reading on here that the Yak was set for Spurs for big money then he did his cruciate and was never the same. A club with money problems like ours can't afford to turn down large offers, sadly.

Need to take into account a load of other things though mate. Not just RVP went for £24m.
- Fellaini is 24
- We would need to recoup and make a decent profit on what we got him for.
- Liege must have a sell on clause
- He's a unique player. Not a lot like him.
- Has years left on his contract.

Just convinced myself he's worth £96m

I just find it funny, this £22m 'figure' has been floating around on jarg sites since 2011. So either the media have picked up that jarg and run with it, or it's a huge coincidence that the £22m figure plucked out of the sky by people like Tribal Football happens to be accurate.

I know which i think is more likely.

I agree. The most reliable of sources have said it's more than £22m. But yet people still claim it to be £22m. I don't get it.

Media reports documenting a release clause in Fellaini’s contract, that were published prior to the recent ‘revelations’ being printed in the media.

Go back and read the post i quoted and my response mate. I simply said there had been talk, not media publications. But, as i'm a nice guy:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...target-22m-Everton-ace-Marouane-Fellaini.html

Think that is four months before he was quoted while on international duty ?
