Has Fellaini really got a £22m buyout clause in his contract ?

Can't be arsed reading the thread, but thanks to DAVID for confirming this. I hope it's a lot more than £22m but I sense it won't be the £30m that I would want for him.

Mate, sites like Tribal football were the first to report the £22m figure. Unless they're ITK and hiding it really well, it has been plucked out of the sky. Same figure has been used since.

No, I have, and here it is:

But I don't believe that there has been, other than a few whisperings by a small number of Everton fans on a couple of message boards, who were quoting the figure of 26million.

Have you got a link then mate? Even though that would be nothing but websites repeating what has been written on their own message boards. But it would still be interesting to see what you are referring to.

'There has been talk'

The Fellaini release clause story has been spoken about online and offline for beards. I've heard people talk about it at the pub pre-match dozens of times, most of which was way before Fellaini said he was leaving. To dismiss it as 'internet whispers' just because a bulls**t paper like the Daily Mail or The Mirror hadn't run with it is quite frankly naive.

'Oh well beacons of truth and insight like the Times and the Daily Mail haven't talked about it yet so it obviously was never discussed in a big way previously'.

Christ, people acting like we wouldnt accept 25m from ANYONE, regardless of Clause or not.

We would sell to Bradford if they offered 25m, regardless of them being a CL Club.

I doubt Fellaini would go there tho.

Worry about this in the Summer lads, he aint leaving in this window.

I'm not worried about the figure, but no one has confirmed it's wrong either. I just HOPE it's BS. They got the part about the release clause right so you never know for sure is all I'm saying. I am almost certain the club aren't that stupid though. If I was to guess, I'd say we had to be very realistic for Fellaini and his people and put it around the £25-7m mark.

I'd also love to know what the percentage we've got to give Liege is (if there is one). I'm resigned to him going in the summer. Doesn't bother me any more.

People won't listen though. There will be another few pages on this thread easy by the end of the window.

People will link Brazilian newspapers linking him to Chelsea, then say smugly, Chelsea arent in the CL, they are the current CL Champions, I love the way people say they arent a CL Club. Im fairly sure a legal document goes into more detail.

Im fairly sure NOBODY knows the exact price of the Clause, we can assume its anything from 22-28m tho.

I reckon 26m, but like everybody else, its just a guess.

With their Capital One Cup run do we think they now have the funds in place?

Whilst I don't think he'll be leaving this window either, as imo he'll only be leaving when he decides he wants to leave & he's not pushing for it now.

If a really daft offer was tabled this month, I'm not naive enough to believe that we wouldn't sell him- by daft I'm talking way north of £25M

It hasn't been discussed in a big way previously.

The recent media reports have been treated like a revelation to the majority of Evertonians, a revelation which remains unsubstantiated to this day.

If it had been so well known and so well discussed amongst Evertonians, it wouldn't have taken so long for the mainstream media to report it as if it was a revelation.

The fact is that what you are referring to is nothing but a few unsubstantated whisperings amongst a very small cohort of Evertonians who post on message boards and drink in your pub.

You're right. Thing is though, a daft offer could come in for any player in theory. As it stands it would seem Felli is not going anywhere, so any release clause is irrelevant.
