When a takeover is on the horizon...

Would the existing board spend money on signings? - I refuse to believe we are simply that skint. I keep telling myself maybe Moyes is just holding out for a higher calibre player, and maybe he is. Maybe we will surprise the footballing world in the upcoming weeks.

But surely by now Moyes could have at least brought one or two in, he's bemoaning the lack of competition and lets face it, we arent going to bring in world class players for every position.

So why hasn't he? That brings me back to the first paragraph, would the board spend money ahead of a takeover?.

Also, would the existing board agree a takeover deal prior a decision on a stadium which could bump up the clubs valuation?, Would a potential buyer purchase a club on the eve of such an important decision?, would such a potential buyer be even at all interested in investing into a club when his first major headache would be to invest a ridiculous amount of money into a stadium?

Fanning the flames just a bit here but I honestly believe the whole Kirkby call in shenanigans has had a detrimental impact on our pre-season. Even bigger than previously assumed. Something seems to be dictating things behind the scenes.

Why has Wyness gone? - To join up with his good friend in Spain because a new owner would replace him?

And finally, maybe Moyes has yet to sign a deal because he wants to speak to new club owners?

Hopefully an investor is lined up to come in depending on the ground decision...

Feel free to pick the bones out of all that, which can easily be done since none of us know and 'correct' me, just adding some food for thought.

That's an interesting theory, Danny. It would also explain the bizarre summer that we've had. It's struck me that something seriously odd is going on behind the scenes that we are not yet privy to. Possibilities are:

1. Your proposal
2. Bill really is finding it impossible to get ample funds
3. David is up to his old tricks again and dithering
4. Bill will only get decent funds after Kirkby has been given the green light
5. Bill and David have become estranged and this has affected the performance, or lack of it, in the transfer market
6. A combination of all the above

I know that I'm confused

Is'nt Moutinho a high calibre player???

3 and 5 are very possible, in my opinion.

Also, maybe there is talk of a director of football type of appointment, to aid Moyes with potential signings because Kenwright has got to the end of his tether with fellow board members.

Wyness wasn't happy with this, it is undermining him to an extent so jumped ship.

I've wondered whether this is the case myself. There certainly seems a change in the relationship and David does have a track record of "thinking about it" for rather longer than the average EPL manager.

Yeah, hence why I am not putting all the blame on Kenwright. As far as I know Bill is putting all the work he can in. He knows he hasn't got a massive bank balance, but he does have connections, and he does do what he can for the club.

The bottom line is we need investment, we ain't getting it at Goodison. Simple as that. He is also wary of a takeover happening in which the club assumes a massive debt like what Liverpool and Man U are having to endure. Newcastle too. These guys are not interested in making money for the club, they are only interested in themselves. So I'm sure Bill Kenwright is wary of that kind of situation.

It does seem odd. History does show that Moyes is prepared to play hard ball with negotiations to ensure he doesn't pay over the odds for players, and this can cause things to drag on. Arteta and Pienaar are two excellent examples. This could explain why the big name players havn't arrived.

It does seem odd that we havn't picked up a couple of squad players however, as one would assume they require less negotiation being lesser names, and therefore presumably attracting fewer rival bids.

That is what has worried me, tbh. I assumed Moyes was just delaying all summer, and that AJ would go and Moutihno be here by now.

The fact that neither has happened AND no other players have come makes me very nervous indeed.

Also, now we are apparently offering £1.5m for Alan Smith - this makes me think Moyes has an A-list and a B-list of players, all of whom he can't afford, and is now onto a hastily scrawled C-list of "numbers to fill the squad".

Worrying times :(

Sounds right to me.

Seriously he would have signed a contract already had it been the case.

The Club quite simply is in Limbo........No news is being released from them.......No decision on Kirkby yet ( that we know of anyway )........KW gone without explanation.........No new signings.........Manager still stalling over new contract.....................I think maybe that the recent loan obtained by KW and BK for the transfer fund was dependent on the Kirkby decision. The decision is NO......Wyness walks saying nowt......BK is panic stricken and begs Moysie for more time, ie, end of transfer window, to find some dosh ........BK releases statement ........." come and buy us " ......... SOMEBODY......ANYBODY .........Just a thought......

I don't think it's any more than the fact we have no real funds in the club.

As ghost said, i doubt anyone would invest while the stadium debate rages on.

First if everything was fine why would Bully who stood to make a lot of cash if Kirkby gets the nod go?`
Why would any one leave a top five club for a small Spanish one if everything is alright?.
Why has Bill decide to reiterate the intentions to sell when he assured the committee over Kirkby he had no intention of cashing in on the move this now appears to be fraudulent making the calling in more likely ?
Some thing is rancid at the club and it worries me Moyes contract has been sorted weeks ago according to Bill now from the same guy its only just been sorted and for some reason Moyes is to busy to put pen to paper.Myself I think Bills mates have pulled the plug on him borrowing any more and to be honest if its true we have more loans than players thats not really helping.
