Player Valuation: £35m
From the Sunday People.

Everton finally look set to land Manuel Fernandes from Valencia for £6million.
The Portuguese ace has been told he can leave the Spanish club by new boss Unai Emery, having spent most of last season on loan at the Blues.
Goodison chief David Moyes has been desperate to sign the 22-year-old midfielder for two seasons and is in talks with Valencia about bringing him in on a permanent basis.
Moyes tried to sign Fernandes when the player left Benfica a year ago, but thought his £10m price tag was too high.
At the cut-down price, Valencia have told Everton the deal must be done by June 20 and Moyes is confident he has finally snared his man.

I know a lot of people will be happy. But i think 6m could be spent else were. Would rather add 2m to that an get Johnson from city.

If he does sign, hope he really pulls his finger out. As he has all the tools to be a great player.

I reckon hes a player who on his day will bamboozle any team. Getting him mentally 'there' is a job Moyes can do and Ive no doubt he'll be a fine player if he can get consistent.

6m for a 22 year old with bags of skill is a good buy. He knows the team and with a preseason under him ill look forward to watching him play.

Could be a bargain. Johnson is only in his first season, plenty of players fade in their subsequent years. Think back to how good Danny Cadamarteri looked in his first season.

6 million is an excellent deal. No one can doubt his ability its only really attitude, fitness and lack of stability that has stopped him from reaching his potential. Hopefully at Everton he can reach it and I'm sure he will.

Excellent news if true.

6 million really is good value in todays market.

can anyone remember what we offered before his u turn?

6 million I think. Valencia offered 12 and he went to the highest bidder. If we are getting him for 6 million now then he must have been bought fully by Valencia.

It has to be said that it would be great peice of buissness if it is that straghtforward, but like all things with fernandes i have my suspicions. Its worth keeping in mind its only a rumour at this stage and the details of a transfer are far from clear.

Is the third party ownership cleared up? It will have to be as the PL have passed a new ruling banning third party ownership in the leauge. Is the deal with Valencia phase one of our attempt to sign him or will we have to agree another deal with a third pary for the other half of his registration. If this is the case we could get screwed over we all know Valencia need the cash, but his third party feeling that they hold all the cards are hardly likely to settle for peanuts. Maybe i am being alarmist, but once burned twice shy!

Anyhow getting away from the murkier side of football, and back to idealism. An honest apprasial is that Fernandes has all the ability to be an excellent player, he has vision, range, an eye for goal and an innate instinct/talent to his play that cant be coached lets just say he has the Quality.

What he lacks is consistency which is the hallmark of any young player and he needs paitence. What hasnt helped has been the constant uncertainty in his career and in many respects his life up untill this point. He has suffered from a lack of consistent coaching and as such were ever he has been, he has found it hard to find an overall role in the team he can call his own which hasnt helped his development. I think their are many flaws in his game in terms of his decison making when on the ball particualrly in tight defensive situations, and more noatably his movement when we dont have the ball in particular showing to other players when they are under pressure. My hope is consistencey of enviroment/future, consistnet coaching, and a good preseason will go some way of making up for the hindrance in development that his talent did not deserve and he will turn into the payer his talent defintely deserves! Lets hope Manny is not one of footballs sad stories.

If true a great aquisiton, TX will be made up (Some thread pulling in the coming months i think mate)!(y)

6 million is about right. He has talent, but there are question marks over his attitude and mentality, and he has yet to prove that he's a real match winner.

Jesus, £6m would represent excellent value for money. But where would this leave us in regards his ownership? I assume that we would own his contract, not just 50% of it?

I think £6M would be about right, surely his value is depreciating at an alarming rate, combined with the fact that we are the only club seemingly willing to take a chance on him.
