Like you say, it'll question Moyes' credentials to sustain a whole season. But the fall back will always be, not him as a manager and tactician, but he's done "the best with what he's got" and his financial constraints.

Momentum is massive in football & we've managed to carry over the momentum we built up towards the end of last season into this one (12 league games unbeated now). The fact that we've freshened up the squad with some real quality is also a huge factor. We've come into the season relishing the prospect, rather than being fearful & it's showing in the football that we're playing.

Still early days, but very promising.

We should all be happy with the start we have had but don't go shooting our mouths off to RS supporters and co because you know full well with our thin squad it will come back and bite you on your arse. Be content but don't brag, no one likes a bragger. Look at the spurs, barcode and RS fans....they are all nobs that shoot there gobs off before the fat lady sings.

We have a first team + four/five in the squad that can be relied on to go out and beat senseless any team outside the top 5 if they're allowed to play an attacking game. My big worry (on top of injuries/suspensions) is that we dont have the mental strength to keep our nerve and play football when expectation levels increase. I'll always believe that this comes from the manager who transmits his hesitancy in big games to the team. You cant fault him for building such a team in testing circumstances, but hand on heart I dont think he's the feller to get the best out of them.

That's an interesting point tbf. I think we saw both sides to him on the opening day against United. For an hour we went at them, could have easily been 2 or 3 up, but De Gea kept us out. Once the net was bulged, we started backing off, slowly but surely edging nearer our own goal line, holding a deep line & defending.

The converse of what you suggest could also happen though, as maybe a very strong start would take the pressure off rather than apply it, & we could play with some real attacking intent.

Umm mate, if peeps feel we are in the mix for 4-7 instead of 6-8 I don't see that as being overly positive about things. It's only that people have recognized our squad is better than last year and that finally we look balanced. Sure there will be ups and downs and injuries on a thin squad, but the fact holds for most sides as there's only a few clubs that have quality in depth and we are not competing with them anyway. It's quite hard to think that suggesting we could qualify for CL is going over the top, I'm pretty sure no one has stated that WE WILL, it's just people are stating that we have an actual chance if everything falls in to place.

Years and years of disappointment make the sudden optimism even more fun. I will enjoy this run and dream of the top 4 finish that is sure to come even though my lifetime of experience knows that this will crash to a halt long before I want. However the ride will be run. Plus, we're playing good football. It'd be different if we were parking the car and lucking out 1-0 wins. This is fun.

I'd like to say something like everyone should be realistic too, that's my nature. But nothing about professional sports is realistic and if you aren't positive and don't have hope, then you may want to look into other interests.
