Let's Not Get Too Carried Away Lads...

Take each game as it comes.

All teams have form patches. It's all about keeping it up through the whole season.

It'll kick off down the line. No doubt about it.

Our form dips and you'll have the camp that will say Moyes ain't good enough to change our form back. The other camp will blame finances.

Dunno what's gonna happen if we **** another derby again

This.

I agree with that mate, but I suppose my point is let's not go all, "4th is defo ours" like Newcastle did last year and when that nob'ed Pardew said they were looking to emulating Arsenal and not Everton when asked "Are you looking to be more like Everton"

Spurs sign a few players who are good on Football Manager and its like "We're title contenders"

Spose i'm just asking for us not be bells like them

Does this mean, I'm the only one signing "We're gonna win the league!"?

an old cliche but happy taking one game at a time. If we carry on like we have been then i'm confident we'll have a really good season but certainly not getting carried away.

I'd laugh at Swansea fans if they started saying they were gonig to do this and that because of their first 2 league games so i'm not gonig to give anyone reason to do the same to me

Wolves won their first two games last season....

Not saying they were boss or anything, but six points now can end up meaning nothing if the side doesn't kick on. Cena is right, we are only one loss away from fumes.

There is no question that it is very easy to get carried away.

When you add together the fact our starts are usually horrifying and that goals are usually a rarity, and frankly our football so far has been cracking and we look like we can score a few each game. But at the end of the day our run so far consists of a great result against Utd, a win over a very poor Villa side and a win over Leyton Orient. But the confidence seemingly running through the squad (and staff) and the presence of a geunine real deal finisher...its hard not to get excited.

I think the next few games will be an excellent barometer for us. Swansea and West Brom have both started really well, playing great football and scoring goals, full of confidence, and Newcastle, based on last season - could all show us what we can expect this season - they are one of the teams after all we should be aiming to emulate this season. We often (in the last few seasons) have got ourselves up for the bigger games but faultered against so-called 'lesser' teams, if we come through against these teams with a decent record, then frankly I relish taking anyone on - beating teams full of confidence is a great reflection of a good team.

But tbf it's not just these first 3 matches, it's the run of form going back to Jan, if last year's season started the day we signed Gibson, we'd have ended up fourth. If you extrapolate goals scored and conceded from those last 18 matches over a full season we'd have ended up with about 60-65 scored and 35 conceded. The only two league matches that we lost were due to a bad offsides flag against arsenal and the other one that I won't mention. So it's not fluky, it's a pretty consistent run with a stable squad over 20 league games and that's also with Baines missing the last month of the season. With improved finishing this year (and it should be improved) we can hope to score at least 65 goals and that should be good for a European spot.

Obviously with having such a small squad, injuries will take their toll, but I don't think a bit of guarded optimism is unwarranted in light of all this especially as every other team aside from Chelsea and maybe City looks to have significant flaws thus far. That being said I think you have to target at best 5th, all this nailed on for champions league places stuff is just asking to be let down.

Our form dips and you'll have the camp that will say Moyes ain't good enough to change our form back.

Nobody will say that. One thing Moyes is very good at is getting a losing team winning again. We've turned from dire to wonderful on a dime on so many occassions under him. That skill is what differs him from the phil browns of the world and is why I'm not remotely scared of relegation with him in charge.

What people will say if we get into an extended run of bad form is that Moyes can't produce it for a season. That it's all very well having hot months and cold months but you need a level of consistenty to compete that he hasn't thus far often achieved.

But I don't put much value in if statements. We might have an extended run of bad form but equally we might go on to win the treble.

But as I've said before to me what's exciting about these matches isn't the reults, it's the quality of the football.

if we play like this all year, I don't even care if we have a poor season it's so good to watch.

Listen, we've started boss, i'm made up and I think we are playing some boss boss football. We have certainly picked up where we left off.

The United game we were by far the better side, Villa were awful, but we showed our class and tore them apart which isn't easy to do in the Premier League and we did what we were supposed to against Leyton Orient.

But let's not get carried away with all this 4th place talk and winning silverware stuff just yet. You know we are a defeat away from the fumes on here. Mirallas showed ability last night and i'm sure he'l prove to be a great signing, but he will need time to settle still.

Suspensions, injuries and the like will take their toll as the season goes on, but lets not go all Spurs and Newcastle and claiming we are going to win everything and have a boss season by going on twitter or Talksport and saying this is our time . We are only 3 games in, still a long long way to go and still a transfer window to see out yet.

I'm not being negative, as I said I am made up with how we are playing, the team is so balanced and we have so much versatility, but I'm just personally airing some caution, we are Everton remember.

Spot on. I was speaking to a few lids from within the club last night and the general consensus is that the WBA game will be a better indicator of where were at on this start. Long way to go, we've just won two games like.

Been a blue too long to not expect some bad news around the corner but at the moment it's a great time to be an evertonian so I'm just enjoying it !

I think the reason most people are getting excited is actually not so much to do with results...

1) We've had a good transfer window and it might get better still in terms of players coming in
2) We haven't lost any key players
3) The team is PLAYING well.

I don't think we would be nearly as excited if we lucked two wins with a depleted squad.
