Well as you know, im not a fan of manny what so ever!! Thing is, you can tell he has a lot of class about him. MoM yesterday in my opinian. His ability can't be question'd it's just his attatude once again.

As the games have rolled by, he's been getting better an better. He still seems to wander in an out of games thou. Which is so frustrating as when he plays well he's top notch.

Should we buy him??...........

Well i still say NO. I'd rather spend the money on some one who wants to were the shirt. Theirs been some daft stuff write on this thread like he'll be a world beater. Not a chance, he's not got the right head on his sholders to be that. But he does have undoubted qualitys, i would'nt mind a season long loan. But to pay any were near £10m would be crazy.

His heart just is'nt in it, an his head just is'nt right. Shame really as he just does'nt understand how fortunate he is to lead such a great life. Just wish he'd pull his sock up an battle every game. He could be a great.

Well hopfully the gaffer will do the right thing. An what ever he chooses i'll go along with.

You don't understand Sharpy, top footballers are all lazy now that's the way we're going...players like Pienaar and Arteta have to track back and defend because they just aren't as good as Fernandes going forward. In fact, Fernandes should be devoid of any defensive movement what so ever...He's played well enough from set pieces and that to warrant him not busting a gut for the shirt.

Top players don't work anymore.

/Sarcasm off.

Good post Sharpy.

Good post but what do you base that on?

By gonig home an away to most games. Watching him play, an watching his head drop far to easy. Remember it's only my opinian.

Just wish you could put his qualitys in to some one like carsley who is a top pro an would run through walls for the cause.

He's not a hard worker but that doesn't mean he doesn't care. I think your mixing up attitude with workrate.

I am a confirmed Frnandes fan as i have said here on more then one occasion. I remember a thread a few months back were almost everyone was saying Fernandes was a waste of space bar me, TX, and Cal. We got melted in that thread. I am still a fan but i think a couple of good performences have swept up people and feel that a lot of and hystria are being created.

Here is my honest opinion as of the last day of school. I think Fernandes is a great footballer, he has untold potential and his good days are fantastic but his bad days are terrible. Its easy to love some of the things that he does, and his vision and ability to perform a pass is something we have lacked coming from the central areas.

Regardless of confidence, fitness, injuries as fan of his i dont think he does enough, let me clarify this i dont think he shows for the ball enough. Be it when we are in possession or without. I think there is an intensity missing in his game, that is evident in others in our squad. Some of his runs praticualaly defensively are done half heartedly. The untold things i shouted at him on TV during the arsenal game when Pienaar and Ossie where looking around for options trying to orcastrate an attack and him passively trotting toward them in no great haste, are unrepaetable.

As i said i am a fan and would like to sign him, but to echo everyone else i dont think at the moment he is worth over six million maybe seven if Moyesy really wants him. Its still all potential and inconsistencey which i for one am willing to allow when you consider his age. If Moyesy beleives he can add to his defensive game, his movement of the ball, his consistency and his tenacity he would be a superb signing!(y)

I agree to a point in that there are signs that Manny could be gem in the future. But there is a question mark over his attitude and whether he can always be bothered to give his best. Perhaps Koeman couldn't handle him because of that? But then, is Moyes always the best at handling players with egos? He's had some failures, and some successes. Only Moyes can properly judge how the two of them will pan out.

I also realise that £10m isn't a huge amount in footballing terms. But to Everton, it would total at least half, if not more, of next years budget.

In saying that, you might be fully correct and I admit to sort of wanting to throw caution to the wind and grab this lad even at the price you mentioned. I'm just cautious and want what little money we have to be spent wisely.

Link to where Moyes or any other Everton players have said this?

It's just speculation pure and simple and the bat that some supporters have used to bash Manny with when they know good and well they have no evidence to support these conclusions other than, "Manny hung his head during a match."

Well hell, if that's the case, I can name about five or six current Everton players that have "attitude" problems as well based on that type of evidence.

I take it everyone has seen this:

Everton boss Dave Moyes admits he's still to decide whether to sign permanently on-loan Valencia midfielder Manuel Fernandes.

"Fernandes has been much improved, he passed the ball well at Arsenal and did the same again today (against Newcastle)," said the Everton manager.

"Like last year, he's got better as time has gone on. We're going to assess his situation in the next week or so. I have got a few ideas which I'm thinking about."

I remember his saying something similar when we all wanted to sign Ferrari a couple of years back and eventually signed Lescott.(y)

Lescott obviously a great signing but boy did I want Ferrari here on a permanent basis.

When he plays on the wing I'd agree. He doesn't know how to play the role and occassionly just stands outwide waiting.

In the centre no chance. He's our only midfielder who drops deep continually supporting the defense. Thats his game and thats what he's good at.

I think you bring up a good point in not "showing" for the ball or not wanting it enough.

I honestly think part of that was due to his confidence which mainly due to his fitness level.

If you don't have any confidence on the ball, you aren't going to be asking for it and certainly won't be bossing your part of the field.

He's improved since he first got back and for me, his confidence has grown with each match as he's started to assert himself more instead of looking to others.

It culminated with the Newcastle match where he was just about in the center of everything happening. He had the confidence to ask for the ball. To hold it under pressure. To try that defense splitting pass. To try a 30 yard rocket.

We really saw none of that in his first few matches back with us and the supporters were rightly frustrated in not seeing it.

I dont know mate, i would like to say it was confidence but he couldnt hit a barn door during the villa and aresnal game, he was willing to have a pop credit to him. I would like to see him more tenacious i dont nessecarily think he is lazy. I think he needs work on his movement of the ball offensively and defensively i put down a lot of his his deficencies to youth which goes hand in hand with incosisencey, but also a lack of regular coaching due to his instability in his club career which has no doubht impacted on his development. Hence my suggested recommendation of what he is worth.

I would like to think a year under a good coach working on his game and giving him a clear role in a team to adapt to, would polish him as the undouted gem that he is! We have seen it work with Arteta and Pienaar!(y)

Great shout neiler. Maybe this is what the lad needs. Just dont know wether we can afford to gamble on him.

True mate, we are talking about figures of six-seven mill thats a huge chunk of anyones transfer budget to secure what is already in place, i am a fan but am in two minds, i change almost hourly!
