as someone once said " i dont believe it ", i've been singing the merits of auntie beeb and no-one pointed out the fact we were on sky(n)

He's a cross between van de meyde and yakubu, lazy but skillful. Just because he's had a decent 2nd half today everyone suddenly thinks he's the dogs bollocks. Surely we can get someone better for that sort of money? Hes deffo no holding midfielder which we need badly, so aside from cahill is this what we want as are main threat in the middle? I think not!

New here then?

There are quite few of us that were clamouring for Moyes to get him on loan during the Jan transfer window which he promptly did.

And when you say "that sort of money," what are we talking here?

Just about everyone here agrees that's he's worth no more than 10M and that's pushing it. I'd say 8M max. I can't speak for everyone obviously but if we could get him in the 5M to 7M range, then were talking.

So at that price, start listing all of the quality players that could be had.

I guarantee you it would be a pretty short list.

In my opinion... signing him on a permanent basis should be the priority this summer, especially after todays display.

He's done enough to show me that he's the real deal, the calibre of player we need to be signing more of in the future if we are to progress.

I really do hope he doesn't go.

Just because im new to this site doesnt mean i started supporting everton yesterday too! How much he is worth or how much we should spend depends entirley on the transfer budget which nobody knows what that is. Yes, Id pay £5million for him tops if the budget was big enough. But id be looking at him as a squad player with potential. I cant tell you who else to get cause im no expert on european football and i dont see many in the prem that are able to come. Perhaps you can tell me, youve been on this site a long time you must be an expert by now, i suppose you were on here singing mannys praises before he even went on loan to portsmouth:P

Fernandes is a good player, but he gifts possession in dangerous areas with some of his passing. I agree with what Danny said earlier he shouldn't even be considered better then Arteta until we've seen a full season out of him.

That said I was quite impressed by the second half against newcastle, the second half against Liverpool, the game against Derby and the game against Chelsea....

Wow he's not played well at all this season has he?

He hasn't done that in a few games. The Derby one was the last one he lost possession in a dangerous area. I think it was down to lack of match practice to be honest.

He never did it in the 10 games he played last season and for the last couple of games he hasn't done it either.

have to say that one of the things that impressed me 1st time round was his ability to slide those eye of a needle passes through defences, they were pinpoint and dont leave much room for error, thats why they look so good when they find the man, it also means that the slightest bit of inaccurracy gives the ball to the opposition, he has shown the type of precision towards the end of the season with crosses and passes that we saw prev. maybe its a case of when its not going right for everton its not going right for manny, maybe when a few passes dont get through frustration affects his accurracy too, i think he's shown that it's still there in the last few games and hopefully his earlier form will enable us to get his price down too. i'll like to bet that if he goes elsewhere in the prem he will forever be a thorn in our side.

Does the thought of a fully fit manny & mikey next season after a good pre season not get everyone excited ........ i am !! opps i've just creamed myself

From NSNO

David Moyes has praised Manuel Fernandes' improvement as the season has gone on, and has said he will assess the creative Portugese midfielder's situation more in the next week.

With Valencia still claiming a transfer fee of around £12m, any decision is likely to be made after Moyes is certain that he has funds to further improve his squad in other areas, but a further season's loan deal could be an option.

“Fernandes has been much improved, he passed the ball well at Arsenal and did the same again today,” said the Everton manager. “Like last year, he’s got better as time has gone on. We’re going to assess his situation in the next week or so. I have got a few ideas which I’m thinking about.” ...discuss this in our forum...

I've said all along a loan deal would be best for us and him to be honest, lets see him through a full season before we shell out any serious money on him

sounds good for the short term (loan him again that is) as he's here for free next term, but when he runs the show for the 38 games he plays, his price tag will soar, for me i've seen enough to warrent paying 6-8 mil rather than him bumping up his price tag next year, unless we could arrange something like the pienaar deal and agree a reasonable fixed price in the loan...
