Fernandes - post-season views

Reading your posts you seem to have a personal problem with Manny so there's no point discussing it.

I agree with you, a personal problem is what wrong here, I think his passing could be better than Arteta and you can't judge team play to be honest and that's because he has shown great team play today.

The other matter you were saying is true but it could be change, if everyone has to be at least as good as or better than Arteta in that department we going to have trouble signing enough player this summer.

First we going have problem to find that many who would be interested in coming to us and we couldn't afford to sign that many player at that quality standard.

getting back to our 21 goal forward, and dont get me wrong i'm not criticising him in any way i.e. not saying he's lazy, he seems to be able to get in the right place without busting a gut, inbetween defenders when it looks like he's got no chance and without it seems expending a lot of energy, it just seems to happen for him, he turns them arse about t1t and hammers it home.

Manny's passing is without doubt better than Arteta's in my opinion. Fernandes can pass from anywhere. In the final third, in the middle of the park and best of all from deep. He picks the ball up and drills passes with pace to feet. Its his best attribute in my opinion.

Arteta is neat and tidy. He has an excellent passing range but he tends to keep it simple. One of the reasons he moved out to the wing was because he can't see a killer ball. He rarely plays them. I don't know whether thats down to lack of ambtion on the pitch or because of the fact that he does not have the visison.

In terms of all round game at the moment I'd say Arteta is ahead of Fernandes. More to do with the fact that he's actually shown he can do it over a few seasons. If Fernandes was given a full season alongside Arteta then I think it would be alot closer and hard to judge.

Fernandes looked as good as Arteta last season when they played together. Thats my opinion anyway.

I have no doubts though that Fernandes at his peak would be better than Arteta at this peak. I just feel Fernandes's has more tools and the ability for the big occassion. Fernandes has proven even in his short spell hear that he doesn't hide when big games come along. He demands the ball and he makes things happen.

I think he was lazy, but thats changed thanks to Moyes, now he comes deep(er) to get the ball, he will chase the ball aswell, he was alot more energetic than anichebe atleast.

He is the type of player who plays great when he is enjoying himself, and you could see that he was today.

To be honest when Yakubu runs he's very quick. I seen him out pace Taylor a few times today and Taylor's no slouch.

He preserves alot of energy though and his movement is very good as you say. He probably our only striker with a footballing brain. He reads passes and is an all round good footballer in my opinion.

He's a cross between van de meyde and yakubu, lazy but skillful. Just because he's had a decent 2nd half today everyone suddenly thinks he's the dogs bollocks. Surely we can get someone better for that sort of money? Hes deffo no holding midfielder which we need badly, so aside from cahill is this what we want as are main threat in the middle? I think not!

Nothing to do with his second half performance. I've always thought he was the dogs bollocks.

No he's not a holding midfielder but he's a play maker which is something we lack. No one else in our team links the defense to attack like Manny. All the big teams have this style of player and we need it to push on.

Who is better who would actually join us? Realistically I don't think there's many midfielders out there who actually are. People keep talking about getting a finised product but many midfielders who are the finished articles aren't better than Manny. Manny is talented now and has the ability to get even better.

vdm isn't lazy. he's not interested/arsed, happy to pick up however much every week for shag all, and has just got a new lambo that he parks on his path for all to see(i'm informed). he may as well start walking round in a rs shirt and put a shankly statue on his lawn. talk about giving us the v's.
luie bastaard, belemmering die dwaas dragen, gaat naar huis.

I never really rated him, skilled at times but I always thought he gave the ball away cheaply in dangerous areas. Today I saw a much better player, he passed well going forward, rarely lost the ball. His free kick and corner delivery was the best we've had in a long while.

We need to keep him, we shouldn't even be considering getting rid of even half decent players when we have Europe again next year.

He's young and hopefully will learn under Moyes who clearly has seen something in him he likes.

sign him , ive said it all along, he needed time to get fit and settle, he played about 3 games for valencia, he cant surely be expected to be thrown inthe team an play well, he got injured as soon as he joined us as well

now he's had a decent run, few 90 mins' he has turned it on...and today for me, he was as good as the portsmouth game a year ago, shame arteta wasnt there to aid his piss taking, deserved a goal from his excellent set pieces, created 2 goals, and should be signed at any cost IMO.

But in todays market, where crouch is 15 million, Darren Bent is 16 million etc... id say 10 million maximum...
No one will pay 15 million for crouch.

Why does everyone look at the worst example to show today's market? "If Darren Bent is 16 million..."

How about, if Roque Santa Cruz is 3 million, if Pienaar is 2.5 million... (y)

Thats true, and with Valencias crisis too...id expect to pay 7 million for him
