Everton won't consider meeting Valencia's asking price for Manuel Fernandes.

The Sun says Fernandes will not return to Everton next season unless another loan deal can be struck with Valencia.

Toffees boss David Moyes is refusing to pay the £12million needed to buy the Portuguese midfielder.

I would'nt be a bit suprised if we never saw him again.

They'll buckle, they need money as they're skint.

Splashing silly money on average players and then expecting other clubs to pay what you paid for those players is ridiculous. Not saying Fernandes is average but some of the money they've spent on the players they've brought in is silly.

20 Million euros on Zigic for example.

you can only set a price based on his last season, wasn't rated good enough for them to get a start, average for us...did seem to be giving a bit more in the run in, and maybe he's been playing as he's been asked, but 12 million ? they must've been made up when he came on loan and lets face it would anyone else be willing to part with that sort of cash for him ? if he goes elsewhere for that sort of cash then fair enough but i reckon dm will pull some better ones out of the hat for that brass......ARSHAVIN for one.

What shame!! Done better recently but still nowhere near the standards required for Everton.
Send him back and lets buy someone who wants to play for us instead of just coasting along

Id pay up to six for him, he needs to do more of the ball to make himself available in midfeild, he dro0ve me mad on Sunday strolling around while others where under pressure, dont get me wrong i am a fan.

i think once he settles and finds his feet he will be one of the best players in the prem. but probably for somone else.

Do people think that there might be a slight rift between Manny and Moyes (and perhaps the rest of the team)?

If there is, then it would be suicide to pursue him. If not, then the lad is talented enough to pay around £7m for his services, but not a penny more (given that we need to sign at least 3 quality players).

i wouldnt pay more than 6 mill... i think thats a good deal for a player who didnt perform for them and they need the money

i trust moyes to either get a good deal or not bother. another loan may suit all parties, as it gives him a chance to prove himself & puts him in the premier shop window.

personally i sort of guessed fernandes wouldnt be staying when he came on a few weeks back for 3 minutes and got injured and went straight off.

from what ive heard , moyes was far from impressed with his commitment.

im certain though that for us to improove fernandes is the type of player we should be buying.

note * i just hope we dont have another season where we see carsley and neville in the middle.they may be good to some eyes but in truth there far from good enough for a midfeild expected to win cups.
carsley should be back up and neville rb at best.

7-8M would be as high as I would go.

But I think we all agree on one thing. If we do buy him, Valencia will be taking a loss on him. No way they're recouping their initial investment on him, no matter who comes in for him.

Interesting comment.

And what standards would those be?

Presuming you could define those standards, how much would those standards cost?

Just don't think Moyes will spend that much for him. He has lacked the verve for us this year. Sophomore jinx perhaps but 10 million Moyes won't do it.
