I'm not saying he's crap, I agree with you the first couple of games until he got injured he was by far our best player. But, how can you put a price of 8 million on a player that's hardly played football since, I wouldn't rate him higher then the likes of Jagielka, Yobo, Lescott, Pienaar, Arteta and co.
Some of which I would price below 8 million.
I agree though, he has the potential to be England's future left back for sure.
In the united game, he had Cristiano Ronaldo in his back pocket the whole game. You don't keep the world's best player silent if your a crap full back.

Exactly you can't put a price on what he brings in to us. Something you can't always put your finger on but a driving force nevertheless. Two key cogs in the wheel damaged and you could tell the difference right away. Both Cahill and Arteta. On another team they both may get lost in the mix but for us a big element of our success this year.
Personaly i think hes better then Jags, more quality that is!
Well with the likes of Gareth Bale, Hutton, commanding huge fees there is nothing in Baines potential that says to me he is not as good as either! He would also be a long term investment.

Player Valuation: £50m
Yakubu: 12-18 million- One of the best strikers in the League. Continually scores goals for mediocre teams. Top four quality without a doubt.
Arteta: 12-15 million- If we where going to sell Arteta then we'd be looking at 12-15 million. Despite his average season the media and oppostion supporters still describe him as the catalyst for our excellent season. Valencia also offered 12-15 million for him not so long ago.
Cahill: 10 million- Excellent player for us in our system but wouldn't be as effective at other clubs. Lacks in alot of areas to be a real top class player and at 28/29 he's not getting any younger. His energy, goals and sheer enthuasism would guarantee him a 10 million price tag.
Lescott: 8 million- Our most consistent player without a doubt but isn't as a highly rated as the players above. Needs to prove himself over a few more seasons. His England performances probably knocked his price tag down a bit.
Fernandes: 8-10 million- On potential alone he's worth 8-10 million. He's very very highly rated in his home country and as we seen with Valencia certain european clubs are willing to spend big on him. Not worth 12 million but could be in the future and with Valencia in debt we could get him at a very cheap price.
Johnson: 6 million- We suprisingly would get around 6 million for him. Despite him being an average player a number of London clubs would take him.
Pienaar: 5-7 million: That in my opinion is his real price. 2 million was a steal for a player of his quality. He's got a decent reputation in European football and is improving in the League.
Osman: 4 million- Worth more than 4 milion in my opinion but criminally underrated and doesn't get any headlines.

I agree mate this thread saddens me in a way, i think its a sense of some peoples pesimistic view for the rest of the season. Its funny if you add the above valuations its what some people want us to spend in the transfer window, rthe grass is always greener eh!. We are ace fact!

I cant get over the pessimism and defeatism this week mate it reminds me of the week after we were beaten by Spurs at home last season. It was dire here that week, we need four points from two games. Its a sad day for our club when some think we cant go to Aresnal and play Newcastle at home and get four points.
