The Derby Tifo

Thought it looked daft, but admittedly not as terrible as the first one.

Seems we need all the help we can though to build an atmosphere, hopefully improves next season with people moving seats to places their more comfortable.

A day later and time to reflect on it.

I know it’s the modern football world, but it’s not for me and I don’t think it’s for Everton either.

All well and good saying we’re the originals but it’s another stage-managed jibe at the RS and we’re left looking like idiots. Maybe next time we can have some of them stupid quotes Stubbs used to come out with before derbies?

Pre-kickoff it should be all about lighting the blue touch paper, letting them on the pitch know the privilege that they have and what we demand in return. I don’t need that tool on the PA telling me to hold up a card now.

Go back to banners and flags if that’s what you’re gonna do.
Oh bore off will you

It's amazing really. About 3/4 years back the notion of banners and flags - let alone tifo - would have been universally frowned upon by Evertonians, viewing it as Kopite behaviour.

Since the Street End and Park End banner days at Goodison they're accepted and we've even outdone the Kopites now with these tifos (as an aside can they even do them off the Kop?)

I'd have been cringeing at the thought of any of it myself once but I'm a convert. I think they look great and they add a lot to getting our identity out there - and we need that badly not only because of the move from Goodison and into a pretty anodyne, Everton-lite stadium, but because we've been ignored and overshadowed for decades and if we're not prepared to project ourselves then no one else will.

Come on Dave, where’s the sting in the tail mate?😉😂👍

Ever been to a game?
Were you trying to be funny? I’ve been to many Everton matches, and over the past 53 years I’ve attended numerous league games in various countries, as well as international soccer matches. And the excuses of some consumers of the football industry, such as that tifos, displays, or actively supporting the team even when loosing are “kopite behavior”, contribute to the quiet atmosphere, especially at moments when the Everton team need our support. And the activities of The 1878s group, including tifo, help to improve atmosphere.

I've had a season ticket nearly all my life & just didn't like you describing the atmosphere as quiet & toxic when I do my absolute best to support the team every week & so do most others. We've had a big move & each time I go its feeling more like home, everyone seems to be getting used to it & having different people around us. The atmosphere has been amazing at times.

Pleased to hear that you do go to matches, thanks for explaining & sorry for sounding a bit cheeky. :)

I kind of echo your thoughts .

BMD isn’t perfect but neither was Goodison however misty eyed we get about it , and I certainly do.

The build up and atmosphere was fantastic , im not sure anyone could disagree , and every game it’s starting to feel more like home . The noise and joy when that disallowed goal hit the net was fantastic .

Season ticket holders and The 1878’s in particular are trying to make the stadium special and for all the sniping I think it’s getting there . It’s now down to the club to get it right off the pitch with the little bits we need within the stadium (removing some of the blandness for example ) and more importantly on the pitch and we’ll be right .
