But they are not a poor side. They are poor in comparison to themselves last season and to teams above them this season. They are still a top part of the table side who blow hot and cold, much like Chelsea. We will have to play very well and be clinical to beat them. Winning is well within our capability but unless we are on it then it could well go the other way. They have some very good players.

We can't just turn up.
No of course we need to play well.

They are up at the top end because they had a good start to the season though. They have been pretty awful at times lately. They are nothing to fear. I just hope we don't freeze and/or overthink it.

We should be very confident and go for them. I think we are heading upwards and they are treading water at best.

It's a derby that I feel no fear from for a change. Over the years it's felt like we've needed a desperate win over the dark side, purely to survive.

At the moment though.....There's a totally positive outcome if Everton triumph, and it doesn't just mean safety...it means real optimism.

A future season where we not only overtake them, we qualify for a competition we haven't fully taken part in since 1971.

It's on the players to make Liverpool worry about us, not vice versa. The supporters will do their part. No worries.

Go get 'em blues. They are on the ropes... they are finished this season. Look at the defeats and dismal performance levels theyve had.....astonishing they are still in 5th. Let's remedy that. Time to deliver a terrific final knockout dig to them.

….its a dreadful injury for the lad but they’ve had a couple of major injuries lately whilst in recent seasons they seem to have had very few.
I thought we killed Virge, but he rose from the dead. Wonder how many times that will get mentioned on Sunday

I just hope we go at them on Sunday. If we come out all guns blazing with the crowd behind us, like we did against Chelsea, I think we turn them over.

My worry is that Moyes plays the badge. Starts McNeil, tries to make us stifle them and build into the game. Need to capture the crowd and get Hill-Dickinson rocking. I think giving them time and letting them build into the game would be a mistake. Get in front early and I genuinely think they fold.

Not often we can say that.

It's clear that if we have any aspirations of challenging Liverpool this season, we must defeat them on Sunday.

They arguably have a more difficult final 5 games than us, but we would not overturn a 6-point gap (taking goal difference into account).

If we can win, I'd give us a good chance of catching them.

But only a win will do, and hopefully the manager feels the same and sets the team up accordingly.

This means not sitting deep and welcoming them onto us, not looking to counter attack with Dwight 'The Snail' McNeil, etc.

It's an interesting one. There's no knowing how we will play, or how they will play. Both sides are inconsistent. We're guaranteed effort from our team so I think that gives us a slight statistical advantage, but their players are capable of better than they've shown and are certainly better as a whole than ours. I think they'll have lots of possession but not create too much and it will end up 0-0.

I hope Ndiaye puts in a good performance. No better opportunity to cement his place in Liverpool’s mind as a summer signing. And rightly so. We should be grateful for their interest and offer mate’s rates to see the deal across the line. Why not even get it done after the match, so we can all laud the transfer alongside Carragher on Sky Sports? A wonderful example of cooperation across the city.

yes exactly, thats what they try to do to us usually at Anfield, fast start to try and blow us out of the water, I dont care if we f*** it up as long as we try it for a change

I thought we were good against Leeds at home second half when we went to 3 centre backs to match them.

now that Branthwaite is back, 3-5-2 allows us to press higher.
Leeds were putting Man united to the sword in the first 10-15 minutes despite being the away team and scored early, kudos to Farke.
we need to do the same
