Given the scale of hike in recent years Id also have liked some assurance of no increases in the next few years.

This is a key point, for years ticket prices didn't really move so that with the new stadium at least gives some rational. If they chuck another above inflation increase next year, I will seriously consider whether a ST is the way forward.

At the end if the day, perhaps they want to knock 10k off the list and this is the strategy to do so.

You have it sussed more than TFG do mate.
You will consider not getting an ST as it's easy to get a ticket for most games....apart from the usual couple of big ones. A firestick covers the ones you'd miss though👍😅
Seriously, if they lose ST holders who is there to take their seats? With a waiting list as long as it is how come tickets now the "new stadium clamour" has died down are cheap and plentiful. Surely it should be a true and not massaged full house every game.

I had the same thing happen, I called the ticket office yesterday and they said that this has happened to quite a few people renewing with the direct debit option. They said that in the next day or so the ticket will become available again and you will be able to complete the renewal without an issue this time (if that makes sense)

Do people on the ST waiting lists have a precise number for their placing on the list? If so, what is the highest number we have amongst posters on here? If the renewal rate indicated on this poll is anywhere near representative, then there could be over 7k ST seats available to those on the list. So, it will be interesting to see if the take-up from the waiting list can match that.

I don't think it would be a wise policy for the club to try to reduce ST numbers to increase income from matchday tkt sales. If they can't attract them to take-up resale seats for msny games in the inaugural season, they're not going to afterwards at even higher prices. Of course, that could change with improved team performance too. But the point is, we haven't got unlimited demand for tickets, and the priority should be to maintain a full stadium. If people walk away, they won't necessarily come back anytime soon, and/or after they discover fire-sticks etc.

Without that surplus demand, the arse soon falls out of much of the stadium's whole business case. For instance, many took up the corporate lite packages to jump the waiting list, what's the point of them renewing if there are empty seats and general admission ST availability is there?

It's about 20k. Notionally that is. As I said the other day, membership holders can get them who have no real intention of getting a ST.

I've looked for about an hour and can't see anything that shows what's available. Mind you I am a simpleton with computers so it might be me.
The email from the club about renewal said that only the seats from ST holders not renewing would become available for people to move.

I've never seen anything official about this, but it is my ASSUMPTION that certain seats are held back for the ballots etc. This would actually make sense, otherwise certain desirable sections would have become completely sold out to season ticket holders.

For example, I'd had a season ticket at Goodison for 9 years so I was in one of the last groups who got to pick my seat at the new place.. and when we looked pretty much the whole South Lower was "sold out", along with a few other sections as well (East Lower/Upper at the South end etc). I'm guessing however that there are seats available in these areas in the ballots.
