2025/26 David Moyes

Better get in there quick cos the way Rosenior is going at Chelsea i can see them looking for a new manager. Fabregas at Chelsea looks a lot more likely than Everton.
Would he even go to either considering Como could be in the CL next year.
He has been linked to a few jobs but I think he will take Como into the CL first, he is also a shareholder there. Chelsea want a 'yes' man and I'm not sure he is that. They are saying Rosenior stays atm and I think they have made a bit of rod for their own back tbh as I don't see who would want to touch that job, you don't even really pick the team there, just coach the players.

I'm not that arsed about Chelsea. Ive heard that yes man thing a few times. Might be true. But if they're getting boo'd off at Stamford bridge most games they'll pull the plug.
Yeah they're a weird club to call right now.

You do know Garner was always going to be a top player dont you ?

The reason he has progressed so well this season is
1. No Dyche & 2.He is playing consistently with a long uninterupted run without the the 2 spells out with a back injury.
Always destined to be a very good player for whatever team he plays for , just ask the Utd fans.
I'd suggest the vaults tell us many blues didn't think so before he got here.

It's interesting that this is stated as a fact when it's anything but.

It will never be anymore than a Rosenior type though as the hierarchy there believe the squad doesn't need a manager.

Great to see & hear but obviously that is following on from the Joke that was here beforehand.
I'm convinced he would have reached the same level playing for the likes of Emry , Arteta , even Pep.

Super player now he's overcome his troublesome back injuries.
So he would develop under other world class managers?

That's a backhanded compliment there I think.

He always has had it in him though. If you go back to him on loan at Forest he was more the all round player we see now. Dyche did a number on him and tried to make him into a DM which isn't his game and fans got frustrated with him and he got frustrated himself. Fair play Moyes has told him he doesn't have to be so rigid anymore and he can get forward if he wants. He has had at least 3 (that I can think of) sly digs at Dyche since he has left so clearly wasn't happy about his role under the previous manager.

Always had the potential and Moyes unlocked it.

Dyche definitely did a number on him (and others), no doubt about it, but there's no guarantee he plays this well under another manager, that's a big assumption.

Especially if the other managers you list off are managing the best teams in the league, it suggests Moyes has done a good job raising Garner's game.

Deciding not to give Moyes any credit when the player himself does is certainly a choice.

....as said: dont kid yourself.
Hmmmmmm....... A poll that got closed very quickly during a cup break in the aftermath of a defeat when the forum's most angriest were releasing their fury on Moyes for not beating Bournemouth.

I wonder what happens if we did that poll this week?

He already has though, he was easily Forests best player in that campaign, Cooper was getting loads out of him regardless of what you claim. Dyche knocked the kids mentality massively and then told him "See that skillset of yours son, I don't want you doing this, this, and this, in my team any more" Moyes has given him the license to take that back, its all mental stuff but it has clearly worked and he gets credit for it. I agree the damage Dyche did to some of the players with his limited, rigid setups that never expanded beyond the ABC of football. James Garner is a player I was pushing for from the early Forest days mate, I knew he could be a good fit for us and was very happy when he signed. You won't get any complaints from me where he is concerned and is playing well and (as I said) credit must go to the manager and staff for giving him his freedom back.

Like a few posters on here, I do worry about Moyes being in charge of transfers and building a bit of a Dad's Army squad. However, Chelsea have gone completely the other way with their transfer strategy and that has been terrible for them in a sporting context. From the first minute their young defence (Cucurella excepted) and jittery goalkeeper looked like a liability and we exploited that mercilessly. If Chelsea had an experienced goalkeeper and centre back in that team (e.g. Pickford and Tarkowski) then the shape of the game would have been totally different. They have got their transfer policy wrong, clearly.

I think most posters realise that you need a mix of experienced and young dynamic players in a team to be successful and we are all just arguing about the exact point that balance should be achieved. It's a shame that it is just another front in the Moyes culture wars (I accept that I am guilty of participating in those exact wars before someone points out my hypocrisy) as it's super boring now that literally everything is framed in that light.
Where has this concept of him building a dad's army squad come from?

Looking at his signings from his two longest spells at us and West Ham he doesn't seem to be signing many OAPs. His best signings here were Jagielka, Baines, Fellaini, Mirallas, Arteta, and Pienaar and they were all relatively young to early twenties. At West Ham he signed Kudus, Paqueta, Bowen and Soucek who were also younger.

Is it just the link to Soucek and that he hasn't played the young kids that were signed last summer? He signs the odd veteran like Ings or Saha but I wouldn't say he builds his squad around that.

Being the best player in a team promoted in the Championship is a fat different level to getting an England call up.

Moyes has had a big part in that development for me.
