2025/26 David Moyes

No, it's not relevant, was just pointing out maybe why the squad was maybe aging a bit when he left. Lack of backing.

I personally couldn't care less how old Gueye is. He's one of the first names on the team sheet as far as I'm concerned.

I'd maybe get people going on about the average age if it was like 33 or something, but people* going on about it because it's in the mid-high 20's when Tarkowski ( de facto captain) and Gueye, two of our most reliable players, both performance and availability wise, are 33 and 36 respectively.

*mainly Zat tbf. I think I might just make him the only person I have on ignore. I know a lot of people think Dave should be ignored, but at least he's a 'character'. Zat's just a tedious Fifa bore.

Soz to go off on a tangent  Sometimes the train of thought just comes out.
No no, no worries mate - I get told I waffle on a lot here - and I get the POV, I just mean it'd be good to see them a bit more too - we get 5 subs a game and Gueye/Tarks/etc. don't have to play the full 90 (and then some) every possible game. Tim's being introduced a bit more lately, Rohl got in when Gueye was at the AFCON, Armstrong should be thereabouts too - we can't rely on the same team for the full season and then possibly Europe like. It's one of the thing that bit Moyes hard with WHAM imo - they played their first team with little to no rotation (unless injuries) against everyone in Europe. I'm not talking about weakening the team for no reason too, just give them a chance when we're a few up, or genuinely need to introduce fresh legs - Garner and Gueye have both looked knackered lately and can probably use a bit of a break before they're ran into the ground.

I also know that Moyes won't change this at this point in his career though so we work with what we've got I guess, and hope for no injuries.

Also responsible for our highest league position since the 80s. But you know all of this. As a percentage I would say there are more flat earthers in the world than Everton fans who agree with you on Moyes. Being made to order explain his achievements for us to you day in day out only hardens our appreciation of him. I this point I'm all in favour of a statue outside Hill Dickinson.

….having Gueye 36, Tarkowski 33 and Keane 33 obviously skews that statistic.

O’Brien 24
Mykolenko 26
Ndiaye 26
McNeil 26
Garner 25
Beto 28
KDH 27

It’s actually quite a young team, especially considering Iroegbunam 22, Branthwaite 23 and Rohl 23 finished the game ;)

‘Statistics and damn lies’. No problems with age, he’s building a decent team with an eye to the future.
'he's building a decent team with an eye on the future'
Really ???
Rohl hardly gets a look in

So apart from KDH all the other players were already here , so no he hasnt built this team.

Got the best out of them ?.....Yes
But lets not give him credit for building this team.

And btw theres nothing 'skewed' about the age average .
If his 1st choice winger Grealish was available it would take it to 30 yrs.

Dibling, Aznou, George, Rohl were all bought with an eye for the future. Tim, Garner and O'Brien have been expertly developed by Moyes.

On a positive spin, they are doing OK for a bunch of past it oldies ;).

I think there is not really a worry about the future, we have a team with a few older players in there and a few who would be considered prime years. When looking at the squad there a good few promising youngsters waiting in the wings.

As said, not sure there is anything to be overly worried about. We may have to replace 2 in the team soon. But apart from that, there are mostly players there that could still be playing to a high level in 5-10 years time.

….glad you agree he’s significantly improving the team, let the build continue.

Surely it’s only a matter of time, 2 year contract extension please 🙌, give players and fans a huge lift going into the summer.
