January Transfer Window 2026

There is no excuse to do nothing. The squad is far too small and ambitious clubs would want to do something about that as soon as possible, even if it is only 1 new player.
The ownership have watched us pick up 14pts from 9 games since the start of December with varying levels of squad depletion. Now we’re about to get Illy and KDH back (and lose Grealish), as well as Keane, Branthwaite and Gueye coming back to shore up the spine of the squad.

People love to use lack of ambition as a stick to beat us with when we don’t sign players, but ambition at the start of the season would have constituted mid-table or higher, which we’re on course for.

I’d love us to get full-backs on either side in at a minimum this month but I’d be surprised if we see a single incoming. The owners have set their stall out, and while it’s frustrating I’ll give them credit for having the courage of their convictions. They’re creating big(ger) expectations for the Summer window, after failing to address a couple of key areas already in the last one.
