2025/26 David Moyes

Still think Top 8 would be a magnificent season considering where we’ve been. Conference League would be a nice little step up.

Just checked last seasons standings and 66pts got 7th (conference). 56pts (based on us equalling the first half of the season) would have got us 9th/10th depending on GD.

Without reinforcements in Jan, I think we'll finish anywhere from 8th to 13th.

Well, it's a bit of a thing whether you want to follow the commercial trend which you almost have to if you want to keep up with the best or stay more traditional like we did in Bilbao.
I don't have a 2nd club, ONLY Everton for me. But if I had to, it would be Athletic Bilbao.
PS. I have been to the Basque region several times, love it, the food, wine, the superb landscapes, had a great friend there, too (who passed away) but I have not been to the football.

It’s frustrating that everybody is happy that we are not fighting relegation and that’s the sum of their ambition. Moyes best is best of the rest, if you are happy with that so be it but I’m not & i hope the owners aren’t either,😀 Happy New Year

.
So many things wrong with what you say, with how you think.
Who said "happy" ? Who implied that not fighting relegation was "the sum of their ambition"?
Look, if you want to live on that planet, that miserable one, then that is up to you, but leave us out please
PS. another one who must be great at parties and deffo to avoid in the the pub 💙

The thing is Dave, you've built yourself a platform.
I'm not sure how or if you can down from it.

When i see you post these things, all i see is you planting a seed of expectation, and waiting for a drought..

You can still catch me at times, ( only for a second though ) so i know their will be alot of people caught in your headlights..

You put yourself there though..
"planting a seed of expectation, and waiting for a drought"
You nailed it there, you poet...

Cast your mind back 1 year to the day.

If someone had have shown you the position we currently sit in you'd have bitten their hand off.
Exactly. Whilst European football would be brilliant next season, it isn't make or break for me, and that doesn't mean I lack any ambition.*

It's all relative, because we must recognise that we've been near the bottom for a reason, so it will take time to slowly but also surely move up the table.

People may mention we could move quicker, yet the club's finances will need time to be rebuilt, and you want long-term growth rather than flash in the pan.

Just look at the likes of what Newcastle, Spurs and others have spent, and they're currently below us. It's difficult to sustain a position in the league.

*back to this Everton daaa syndrome, I've mentioned to you in the Aznou thread.

No, I wasn't. I disliked him then and way before that - and I always will.

I've put my cards on the table: I dislike him intensely and I want him gone. Full stop.
That is crazy. Actually, it is stupid.
Look, I was never a big fan of Moyes, he and his tactics were always too dour for me. I have said it before on here, the last straw for me was watching us lose in Bucharest, when the tactics, attitude was all wrong. BUT I am not stupid enough to let that blind me to the fact that we were in a right mess before he came in this time. Credit to him, he has sorted us out, steadied us. The future? Who knows? But for now he is the man for the job.

Report, don't engage in the thread. You make it worse...this post being a good example.
Admin, to be fair, that response was in no way abusive, not even rude, not at all a "good example" of making things worse.
And as for "don't engage in the thread"? What? It is a discussion, why not?
PS. Suppose I will get ticked off (or kicked off) now.

After being on life support for 3 years I've always held the belief it would take us a couple of seasons to get on really steady ground.

Am willing to be patient and let the club build itself back up,not sure how patient some Blues are willing to be in this regard.

As long as the fans can see the club making a modicum of progress that should be enough for everyone relax realise we're on the right track.

….must be a while since an Everton Manager being the next sacked was longer odds than a RS manager

On another note I’m hating the secrecy over injuries. Why won’t he tell us how long players are out for? Seems a bizarre new trend where no one updates on length of time out
Apart from our wants and desires to know as much as we can about the club, why do we need to know?

For me, it's twofold: as @Rita_Poon said, if you don't clarify specifically how long, you can't be held to account by the fans if there are setbacks.

Also, importantly, you remove the attention drawn to get the play back into the squad, which could inadvertently cause more harm in the long-term.

It also means that the opposition have less of an idea of who will start, which is important in the days of clubs doing intelligence gathering.

Not so long ago, there were continuous leaks coming from an individual in the squad, which arguably put us at a disadvantage with our preparations.

The club have worked hard to stamp that out, so they wouldn't themselves then divulge the information directly. Frustrating? Yes. Important? Not really.
