January Transfer Window 2026

To be fair to people on here, I went all in on what I’d heard about Dibbling in the summer and got roasted on here for it. I never claimed to be sourced up or in the know at all, I was just lucky to know some people who were close to him. So I can understand the reluctance to post some may have. It’s a jungle out there
You were right though, so well played

I think we need a defensive midfielder, one that can take over Gana now and share the job for now.

I really like Ampadu, he is Leeds best player by some distance, he would be great for us - and is such a Moyes player.

I know we badly need full backs too.

see what is available last minute is a weak agent driven strategy. No reason why the scouting team (if we have one) shouldn’t of already found a list of right backs who can at least be back up standard that can be replaced by a more experienced right back in summer.

Palace didn't and see how it's done for them. Now got two legged play off at arguably the worst time of the season. Anyway, if our kids were ready for first team football they'd be playing regular. They're not. Welsh and Campbell only on bench for necessity and so we dont fill it with keepers.

Well palce have literally played their first team in every game in every competition this season is the problem.

Theyve done what we did under koeman which is completely flogg their first team. So now when theyve got to the hard yards of the league at xmas their going to struggle.

Top managers know how to manage their squads across the different competitions.

Mourinho won the Europa league by winning the home games and playing for draws in the away games. Thats what we need to do and its what palace should of done

Wouldn’t that be how it works with literally any loan signing?
well we should be the beneficiaries of the loan like with Lukaku . And I’m not sure we would with Zirkzee and how much we he cost us? Like van de beek a few years ago was a disaster and cost us money.
Moyes’s West Ham paying city 7mil ( that was the rumour) for loaning Philips.

At the time we acquired Lukaku no one thought we had a chance of signing him permanently, but no one seemed to mind that we were “helping” Chelsea out by taking him on loan and developing him/putting him in the shop window. This is a fairly new phenomenon that’s cropped up. We need all the help we can get ourselves at the moment without worrying about whether or not we’re helping a club that really doesn’t need our help in the first place.

Bobble saying the club don't think signings would guarantee a European place finish so they are very unlikely to try apart from loans. They won't let Mcneil go as aren't looking to replace him till summer.

Looks like we are only going to use 1 transfer window a year then.

Was it said McNeil will be replaced in the summer?

Was said by a few journos that we wont sign players other than 2-3 loans this window.

Unless a top starter or top prospect was available at the "right price".

But he did say, if a deal came available that was too good to turn down, then they may go for it.

For McNeil?

The thing about McNeil is that we might never get more for him than we would this window, assuming it would be Dyche coming in for him.

It would be weird to not invest in the squad because you think it's midtable but then turn down potential (good value) sales. Obviously if there are no decent offers its a moot point.

Surely its a must to sell McNeil, Beto & Patterson.

Makes no sense to keep them when their value is the highest it may ever be from now and were paying their wages.

It was mentioned on the bobble podcast, that if we got Europe, which is a long shot, then that makes recruitment a little easier next summer. I think they would sell McNeil if they got a good offer

Need to sell him and the other 2 i mentioned above + loan Aznou to the championship.

Yes by getting the correct loans in, that work for the team paying out money
Lukaku had done well at west brom
The year before scored 1 in 2. This wasn’t some gamble.

Zirkzee maybe be decent technically but can’t score goals.
Like with Moyes wasting a fortune loaning an unfit player in Phillips, it’s this prem experience nonsense that he loves.
There’s not a chance we’d be looking at Zirkzee on loan if he was in Germany or France

No he was talking about buying a player, probably works both ways though

Especially after that red card I know Moyes said he didn’t mind it but Gana was wreckless and put us at risk. Can’t see us getting pumped by the barcodes if he’s on the pitch.

Genuinely think next year would be a year too soon for Europe for this squad. Could be a total disaster. We're seeing right now how unbelievably thin the squad is and that's just playing in one competition - we can probably just about get the squad up to scratch for the prem next season. Managing that AND a deep enough squad for Europe + domestic cups? Unlikely imo.

The squad isnt "thin".

We have 2 players for every single position.

There are 6 or 7 players that need to be upgraded which could be done across 2 windows.

Yes i'd be after a high potential u21 player to come in as soon as the window opened.

See how they look and then go for the top notch starting RB who may take a bit of time to negotiate.

I think if were going for a DM and he's going to be a regular starter then thats someone who we need to spend big money on.

Also interesting to think who would be the best option and what type of DM.

For me, this would be the fulcrum of the team and they are the big names at teams:

Rodri
Tonali
Gravenberch
Zubimendi
Onana
Neves
Tchoumeni
Vitinha
Kimmich
Caicedo
Rice

Big names, big fees but big results on the pitch through big performances.

= Need to spend BIG money.

Which kids are these? Apart from Graham and maybe Clarke we don't have any who are close at the moment unless you're meaning by kids the likes of Dibling and Aznou?

Yeah, dibling, aznou, patterson, harrison, welch, Campbell, dixon, olayiwola?

Not all starters but can use some as subs. Then sprinkle in players who arent playing week in and out in the first team. Like gana, keane or o'Brien (if branthwaite is fit), alcaraz, barry/beto (depending on who started in the league), tim and rohl.

Then hopefully when it comes to the tough part of the season at xmas we have plenty of options. As there'll be lads with 6-8 games (and whatever sub appearances they've had in the league) under their belt who can step in and fill out the squad.

Then those squad players might become first team players and the people they push out of the starting line up play in the Europa conference.
