January Transfer Window 2026

Zat , you keep trotting out the same mantra "sell Patterson, Beto and McNeil" , absolutely fine but who in their right mind are going to give us money for that lot .

I think we’d get money for them, not fortunes but on the books Patterson and McNeil will have very low book values. Beto a bit higher, but we’d still make a profit on them imo, which all helps

In order to sell someone you need a buyer who will pay market rate and a replacement, particularly for McNeil and Beto who both started the last match.

Not impossible but there's no point doing anything that will leave us in a worse position than we are now. McNeil in particular might be a good time if Dyche pushes for him.

Book values circa:

Beto £9.5mil
Patterson £3mil
McNeil £5.4mil

Im pretty confident that overall we'll be in profit for the window on sales with those 3.

Mate … we were getting turned down by players all summer that had any quality …

Selling our best player , leading scorer and best dribbler is not the answer as we won’t be able to replace him
He'll be looking to move on soon enough. If we sold him now at the point we want to and he wants the move that could be a masterstroke preparing us for next season too.

Ndiaye wont be here next season IMO, regardless of whether we sell him now or in 6 months time.

watching players like iliman ndiaye is why we go to football. advocating his sale is madness

we couldnt even nail down kenny tete so what makes you think we’ll get a player anywhere near as good as ily

also the elevation of ndiayes game this year, added to the form of grealish and kdh may mean the next striker we go for decides to join, knowing there will be chances for him, rather than in summer when our options were limited

How come teams like Sunderland are able to find value then? Players with quality are out there, we just seem inept at buying players from outside of the league

Surely its a must to sell McNeil, Beto & Patterson.

Makes no sense to keep them when their value is the highest it may ever be from now and were paying their wages.

I find the argument about squad depth weird as well, right now we’re bare bones, but come the end of January, 2 of these options don’t see the pitch again and even Beto I’d prefer to just see Moyes use the squad better and try Ndiaye up front if he has to.

If the offers come in, sell.

The top sides have one or two elite level players. Perbaps Ndiaye could be ours?

At the same time though, you do need to factor in that an elite team may want him.

If thats the case, Ndiaye wanted to leave as well then if it was indeed Arsenal we'd be sensible to add one or two players from them.

E.g would you take £40mil + Lewis-Skelly or Nwaneri for him?

Well, if thats an option then I would be looking for better than Ampadu defo 😂

I think if we do really have £50mil from the summer and can increase that with Beto, McNeil and Patterson sales we should easily be able to bring in 2-3 full backs & a top centre forward.

Then when summer comes, what positions would we need to strengthen? Not too many so there could be one or two big signings.

I'd say though it would be nice if Armstrong could be developed to be that fulcrum of the team.

and yet no sunderland player is anywhere near ndiaye
It’s easy to cherry pick. There have been a handful of players that have been successful for us when signed directly from a foreign league, we almost never do it and when we do it’s usually really bad. Yet other teams manage to do these type of signings regulary. They don’t always work of course but they are relatively lower risk / price

Its weird as just at full back:

LB: Mykolenko / Aznou
RB: Coleman / Patterson

We have the numbers, just not the quality.

Moyes made the decision not to sign anyone aside from Aznou.

I think we should sign a young RB and have him compete with O'Brien and get used to the league.

Then in the summer it may be that he's fine as a starter for next season. If not sign a top player.

Left back loan Aznou and extend Mykolenko. Sign a top LB this January and come the summer sell Mykolenko.

Again...no more numbers as we have enough. Just improve the quality.
