I'm not sure what footwork is in this context, however, in terms of why when things go bad it's not Moyes fault according to you see below

It contained a rather nasty piece of work in a certain welshman, and the mike phelan decision didn't help. van persie is on record saying had he known saf was retiring he wouldn't have signed (heart issue) and there was already history with rooney.

Also the Pogba Scholes thing made matters difficult. They also weren't the top paying club in Manchester anymore.
