2025/26 Thierno Barry

But I don't think he's got ANY strengths to play to. Prem lge is far to advanced in fast positional play and fast thinking for him. Unfortunately is out of his depth, and I predict we won't get anywhere near our money back on him.

Will agree to disagree on this one.

From what I see, there's a lad who's winning most of the aerial duels that come his way, he's pretty good with his back to goal and bringing others into play and links well with others. His movement is enthusiastic, but needs refinement. He's quick enough and his control is decent.

What I'm not seeing enough of is getting into goal scoring positions, and when he has he hasn't always shown the composure you'd want.

He is pretty raw when running with the ball and I don't see that ever improving hugely.

Totally opposite to you, I can see why we bought him. To my eyes, there's a lot to work with but, as Moyes said months ago, he is a work in progress. There's a lot he needs to develop and we probably have overpaid based on how much development you'd want in some ways.

It may be a backhanded compliment, but Everton are a better team when he's on the pitch vs when Beto is.

His brains not in gear quick enough for points you raise. Stands out a mile as obvious. Defenders in the Prem can easily read him.

He could have had about 4 tap ins by now.

One v Palace, v Sunderland, the offside v Fulham, the one v Chelsea. Yes he should put these away, but the fact he’s there shows his movement is good enough and doesn’t stand out a mile as obvious. Defenders in the prem aren’t reading him, he’s just not connecting with these chances yet.

His run for the goal v Forest shows he clearly has an idea of where he needs to be

A footballer who trips over the ball is not a footballer at 23…hope im proved wrong and he nets a brace v the arsenal

Yeah, look, he's a bit gangly and I'll accept that when he's running with the ball and/or trying to beat a man, you can't coach co-ordination to someone, so that aspect of his game is always going to look ungainly. I won't pretend that at any point he's going to look polished in all aspects of his game. What I would say though is that there is, to my eyes, enough to work that he may become an effective player at this level. I may be going against the grain a bit, but I actually think he was a smart spot from our scouting team. Probably overpriced a bit and he may well take longer than people would like, but I can see it - there have been plenty of times in the past where we've bought players and I genuinely can't see how the recruitment team thought it would work out.

I think for him to be a real asset to the squad he'd need to be more physical, sadly he often gets bullied. His apparent ongoing shoulder issues are a real problem in that aspect of his game.
