2025/26 Dwight McNeil

Absolute diamond of a bloke, just spent a few hours at the event in Alder Hey with my lads - he took the time to sit on the floor playing trucks with my youngest, genuinely down to earth decent lad.

….Alder Hey is on our doorstep, Mrs Eggs and I walked through the hospital yesterday and I always think of the what so many of those poor children and their parents are going through. Lovely to hear our players offer such genuine support.

You wouldn’t have missed the players by much then!

They spent about 2 hours with the kids (and were genuinely fantastic) and I believe Coleman, Moyes and Grealish did the wards.

Couldn’t fault any of them, really grounded bunch.

Dwights's goals really helped us when we were at our lowest, Personally I always liked him, Yes he's slow, Yes he's one footed but without his efforts, We would of been down, pretty sure about that. The lad has been through the wringer on a personal level. We could do worse than keep him around the place as squad depth at least... Give him a break !!
Bill has just punched the Air, charity FC is back

Think we will defo be telling the market there is a deal to be done for Dwight once we are out of the red zone squad wise.

He asked the club for a move in the later stages of the summer window, the club declined at the time
Think he wanted to go on loan, think the club would have sold him though, had they got a suitable offer

….contract up at the end of next season, he’ll be getting into that area where he could make a tidy sum on a Bosman, so looking for a loan makes a lot of financial sense.

Hopefully he plays like he has something to prove in the next month or so, he might be tempted if an offer comes in towards the end of the window.

Yeah, that sounds more realistic than him actually asking for a move.

He would back himself, so unless he's told he's not part of the plans, than i can't see him asking out, and than us refusing.

There is no logic in that.
He also said that the club were open to offers for him, which I think the same would stand in January. I think we will be looking for another attacker anyway, so say we get a wide striker who can play 2 positions, then maybe they let McNeil go. I’d imagine it would be late in the window with the Afcon

He does not deserve the hate 1 bit. I get some of the criticisms. I do. The abuse I have seen hurled at so many of our players is sad. Even some good ones
