Relegation Thread 25-26

we
aren’t in a relegation fight
We shouldn't be in any trouble with 21 points from 14. But we still need to keep picking up results and avoid any really bad runs of form

We've won 3 of our last 4 matches. Without that sort of form we'd still have been in a pretty precarious position, so the concerns after the Spurs and Sunderland matches were still fair.

Without that sort of form we'd still have been in a pretty precarious position.... What kind of argument is that? If Arsenal didnt win 5 of the games they did win they wouldnt be top.

I'm just saying that prior to Fulham game less than a month ago we only had 12 points. The season could have gone in a different direction at that point so the concerns back then were understandable.

If we end up in relegation trouble from here something will have gone very wrong.

By Dec 16 2023 after playing Burnley we had earned 23 points playing actual football and would've sat 10th but for decisions not made by the players and football management of the day.
However its still a nice indicator of progress.

The trauma of the last few seasons is clearly have an effect on people regarding relegation.

Ultimately, we're only safe when it's mathematically impossible for 3x teams below us to catch us, and yes, a massive slump in form leaving us winless for 3 months is possible. But is it likely?

If people genuinely think there's a chance of us going down, ask yourself if you think the same can be said for Man Utd, that lot across the park, Palace, Spurs, Brentford, Newcastle and Bournmouth:

I'd imagine the majority of us would say no.

One more win would have made us safe last year with just 24 points and better goal difference than Leicester. Relegation this season would require a meltdown of epic proportions.
