Dogs

Yep. Our current dog is a smaller breed. Piss easy to deal with. I’m very familiar with Dachshunds too, they are my favourite breed.
Then you should be sorted Bry. ;)

I can tell you that my aunty spoils her one! She takes it everywhere she goes.

Visiting mates, a trip to the shops, etc…
It’s like her little sidekick or something. 😂

…..always had a dog when growing up but never once I owned my own home as I thought it unfair leaving one all day whilst we were at work.

My daughter owns a French Bulldog and we have him here lots when they’re out and he’s a complicated little fella but we like him. I do think dogs can be a lovely acquisition to the family as long as somebody is around most of the time.

The smaller breeds obviously makes it more managable.
Another consideration would be their background. i.e. you said you "have the chance to 'take in' a bonded pair" Presumably you know the present owner and there are genuine reasons why they are considering giving them up?

Yep - new child. Which is a terrible reason, but they get the chance to go to a good home at least.

Think it’s so circumstantial Bry. Obviously things like how much time you have for the dedication and how the pack of three bond, especially your senior dog. I can only say we’ve always had 2 or 3 working Labradors and we’ve had to put a lot of work in, however I’ve mainly worked from home for about 15 years so I can tend to them during the day. They take me out at 6 am lol.

However our senior two sadly passed away in the last year of so leaving me with our six year old and I’ve got to admit it’s so much more manageable and can give her more attention and care than before, and she’s flourished as she’s no longer the baby of the pack that had to do as she was told by the others! Think I’ll always have just the one now.

Thank you mate, this is good context. I’ve applied for them now, so we wait & see.

We had three at one point, a Staff, a Yorkie and a Lancashire Healer. ( all bitches )

From experience one always had to be the boss ( the Staff ) and every now and again, there`d be a big scrap somewhere in the house, where the Staff would be putting the Yorkie in it`s place - who was like the little fella in the pub, who thought he was much bigger than he was !

The biggest problem I found, was the costs of putting them in kennels and finding the right kennels that would take the three of them.

Other than that, it was great, as all three of them had different personalities and used to rub along well with each other ( most of the time )

There was only the Staff that wanted to go out, so I`d take her for a walk, whilst the other two stayed happily in the house.

We had a Lancshire heeler about 55 years ago when I was still living with my parents. Cracking dog.
