2025/26 David Moyes

Some people should get out more. Maybe go smell some flowers, play with some kittens etc.

Also, some people need to get some kind of a realistic view of what constitutes success in a sport. Every manager worth their salt always says the league is the bread and butter and the true benchmark for a football team.

But no doubt they know better than people like Ferguson, Kendall, Busby, Shankly, Wenger, Guardiola and Ancelotti.
Wtf mate!

It was about community but that's eroded to a low ebb, at least in the top flight. So, if it's not about that or a joyful collective experience, then what's left? Winning things. It's the only objective measure of success. Everything else is just rationalisation.

I dunno. The Fiorentina semi final season and the Martinez first season were great fun. Moments where you felt we are in the mix and something might happen. It didn't happen, but it doesn't change the enjoyment I felt. Id like more of that, with ideally the success you talk about on top

Those examples are some time ago but I don't disagree. I suppose I'm mourning the loss of two things, really, the end of Everton as a competitive football club (in terms of winning things) and the family feel of the club. We always felt different to other clubs, I'm sure some of that was projection, and we just seem to move further and further from that. The argument is that we had to move away from that, to professionalise or corporatise, to be successful but if we then don't become successful, or success is just surviving then was it worth doing?

Despite the breakdowns, I am very encouraged by this one. Without Grealish I expected us to look terrible which was not the case. The goals changed it which is to be expected against City at their place.

If Ndiaye is creating like that, there will not be a team that can keep us out of the game. I was worried we would go through this season only able to rely on Jack and Charly for any decent creativity. Good to see Skilliman show he can take it to the next level. It is a very good sign.
