Sounds promising in here
There’s a galaxy of difference between not being able to displace Barcelonas right back and not being able to displace Tavernier. The same equally applies to Aznou at Bayern tbf. I'm not writing him off but the early signs are he's not as advertised from when we got him.
There is but I think it’s hard to believe that the club realised he was this far off it when they signed him, it feels like he was intended to be a genuine first team option but they now think he’s way off. There’s a galaxy of difference between not being able to displace Barcelonas right back and not being able to displace Tavernier.
Well, face value - yes. There’s a galaxy of difference between not being able to displace Barcelonas right back and not being able to displace Tavernier.
This is why playing first team squad players in the 21s is a bad idea as they see it as a step down and their motivation isn't right for these games hence the sloppiness of performance….misplaced pass leading to the 2nd goal, continually looked the wrong side of his opponent when they attacked.
He looks comfortable on the ball but he’s a professional with a decent CV of top clubs so you’d expect that, he’s also a ‘leftie’ and they do tend to look well balanced footballers. Didn’t look the most competitive or that it particularly mattered to him.
All in all, I thought he was disappointing.

….but they shouldn’t see it as a step down, it’s an ideal opportunity for them and a measure of their professionalism and application.
If I’m Aznou or his advisors, I’m looking at what’s ahead of me and Everton offers a huge chance for an upcoming LB to make a name for himself. He’ll see he’s only got Mykolenko ahead of him, and he’s knows he’d get the chance to link with Grealish.
Last night was a test for him, something he should relish. The chance to be like a Rolls Royce, going past players at the top end and comfortably in control defensively.
Mykolenko? Is that the solid and tough international who turns up each week? That is unlike the 'legend' of Dunc who turned up every so often, lacked discipline, often 'injured' and had an incredibly moderate goalscoring record.Shades of when Dunc was on that train calling Patterson and Mykolenko bobbins
