2025/26 Adam Aznou

These reports don't sound promising. With Barry and Aznou we seem to have spent a lot of money on players who just aren't ready to play in the Premier League. We would have been better signing 2 solid experienced full backs and an old but reliable forward. The Dibling signing I can understand although we overpaid, but our transfer window seems to be unravelling a bit, leaving Moyes with a very small squad to work with.
if we were going to sign players from foreign leagues, then they should at least be proven in that league for at least a few seasons like Wirtz..... 👀

He's a full international.

It was well reported that he left Bayern Munich because he was determined to play senior football.

He would have come here, expecting to be in and around the first team - to play.

I think Everton will have signed him, expecting him to feature in the first team this season.

If that doens't happen, it's because the player they signed wasn't as far along where they hoped he'd be. It happens - can the club coach in basics like positional ability? We'll see...

Can I remind everyone just how poor Seamus was when he first signed. Turned out okay. Many similar, so just too early to write off players.

The core issue is they are not ready yet, Moyes said so about Aznou at a recent press conference.

Our fundamental problem was the scale of the squad renewal required, that included future potential as well as established players.

Seamus came from a part time club.

Aznou is a full international for his country who has come up through the youth levels at Barca and most recently Bayern Munich.

He got injured, and is just getitng back to fitness.

Moyes has already praised him, just said needs a little time to adapt.

Everyone needs to chill out.
I think he missed about 2 weeks so that's a bit of a stretch. I don't need to chill out, whatever happens with him happens, nothing I say or do will change it, i'm just commenting on the situation as I see it. To me it seems fairly obvious that he's behind where they expected him to be and that's disappointing because we really needed somebody to at least be competition for Mykolenko (as evidenced by us using a 36 year old right back to deputise for him recently). It doesn't mean the whole thing's a disaster or he can't get better and play a part later in the season, but right now I would be very confident in saying that neither the player or the club expected this to be case when he signed.

I mean, we have experience as supporters of this club that this isn't a prerequisite for success with Sandro? It's an absolute lottery at the best of times.

I assume the point being made is that the level you would expect of a £60k signing who had no exposure to full time professional coaching and a £10m+ full international who came through the most famous academy in the world are probably slightly different, and so it doesn't really work as a comparison.

Nope...not they as in the club....its impatient fans doing that, and talking rubbish.

Yes, 2 weeks....the season is about 6 weeks old, and we started well. So a new kid missing 1/3 of the season is going to delayy his game time.

Not a chance the club expected him to start games this early...no chance.

The way Moyes handled Baines when we singed him.....this place would have hung Baines out to dry if it was now.

This stuff is really really obvious.

Or he got injured...delaying his bedding in period....

The lad has played for a decent international team and in la liga, and come through the youth set ups at two of the biggest clubs in the world

I know he is only young but it is baffling that he seems so bad he’s had seamus getting minutes over him (and not even deemed worthy to come on after an all time stinker from Coleman)

And now he’s stunk the gaff out against bradford

Only Everton could make a left field and exciting signing like this for him to turn out to be the second coming of per Kroldrup

Is clear we all would have wanted more from him same with barry and dibbling. But is the types of transfers efc as a club should be making, will be a test to see how the manager and the rest csn develop these players

Hmm, speaking of people talking rubbish. Baines came straight into the side when we signed him, he played every game then got injured and missed just over a month. We put him straight back in to the starting XI as soon as he was fit and he went off injured again in the first half and missed another month. After that he struggled to get his place back because Lescott was playing very well and had forced his way into the England squad as a left back.

Neither of us know for sure but if you think the club were expecting their £10m full international full back to be rated a 3/10 in an under 21s game against a league one side in the closest he's come to a competitive game then I think we'll probably just have to agree to differ.

He cost £7 million.....and its chicken feed in todays football world.

Another Angus signing, doubt Moyes plucked him out, so your looking more of a future player..

The fact he played la liga last season, shows he's better then what we've seen.

if he had the belief he was coming to play first team and then gets stuck in u21's, probably pretty unhappy but hopefully thats a serious wake up call.

Tho just cos he has Barcelona and Munich on his list doesn't mean he's gonna be the 'second coming' neither club fought to keep him.
