2025/26 Adam Aznou

There’s a galaxy of difference between not being able to displace Barcelonas right back and not being able to displace Tavernier.
There is but I think it’s hard to believe that the club realised he was this far off it when they signed him, it feels like he was intended to be a genuine first team option but they now think he’s way off.

Bayern youth setup thought he was “ready” and were supposedly surprised he wasn’t getting first team minutes. So was his camp. Declined an International call up on the basis he’d play a part in the club World Cup and got the right hump. Etc etc.

Seen very very little of him, but if we are willing to play midfielders ahead of him at LB when he is on the bench, don’t even give him 5 mins at the end when Myko is returning from injury and knackered, reshape the defence and midfield just to avoid putting him on the pitch at the end of games, then we have either accidentally been sent the wrong player, or he is really not impressing at FF.

He is a very ambitious kid that seems to have a really good youth pedigree. Based on absolutely nothing, I’d guess it was attitude not ability limiting his minutes with Moyes. He won’t win that battle.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a 3.5 rating on FotMob.

….misplaced pass leading to the 2nd goal, continually looked the wrong side of his opponent when they attacked.

He looks comfortable on the ball but he’s a professional with a decent CV of top clubs so you’d expect that, he’s also a ‘leftie’ and they do tend to look well balanced footballers. Didn’t look the most competitive or that it particularly mattered to him.

All in all, I thought he was disappointing.

This is why playing first team squad players in the 21s is a bad idea as they see it as a step down and their motivation isn't right for these games hence the sloppiness of performance

….but they shouldn’t see it as a step down, it’s an ideal opportunity for them and a measure of their professionalism and application.

If I’m Aznou or his advisors, I’m looking at what’s ahead of me and Everton offers a huge chance for an upcoming LB to make a name for himself. He’ll see he’s only got Mykolenko ahead of him, and he’s knows he’d get the chance to link with Grealish.

Last night was a test for him, something he should relish. The chance to be like a Rolls Royce, going past players at the top end and comfortably in control defensively.

Yep, your really looking for them to stand out amongst the crowd. I'm not a fan of Mcneil, but just in his awareness, speed of thought, you could see he was miles above every other Everton player last night. Aznou looked for all the world like an u21 player. That's the 2nd time I've watched him and he looks nowhere near 1st team ready and to challenge Mykolenko.

The less said about Patterson the better.
