As much as id love one of the cups ,true measured success would be to qualify for Europe through league placing.

I'd rather win a cup and finish 12th than finish 6th with no trophy.

Your argument is to get to league safety and then you can concentrate on winning the cup. I've just told you that only Wigan have been relegated and won a cup in the last 30 years so its not really a factor. Somehow you've thrown Leicester and Portsmouth into the equation when neither of them got relegated when they won the cup.
So your football philosophy whilst also being negative and conservative is at odds with what actually has happened to teams who have won the cup.

Overwhelmingly teams who win trophies do not get relegated the season they win the trophy. Wigan are the exception not the rule.

I've no idea, I just know that some had a fleeting moment of glory and it cost them their future.

Maybe I'm just old school like that. I like being a supporter of the club that's been the longest in the top league, because I know it'd be fanfare and festivals if it was someone else. The more pain Everton do to the cabal and their ghouls in the media pushing their brand for kick backs the better.

The league for me, but we should also go full strength in the FA Cup. So if there is an FA Cup match and a league game in that one off situation I’d prioritise the cup game if necessary.
