Priorities - the league or a tilt at silverware?

What should Everton focus on this season?

Here's a wild idea. Why not hold the League Cup during the summer? Think about it:
1. A 92-team KO tournament could be done with in 2/3 weeks.
2. World Cup/Euro duties would level the playing field a bit.
3. Nobody worrying about rotation.
4. Bigger clubs could opt out if they're doing more lucrative stuff, like playing Wydad FC in front of 2000 yanks. Again, a more level playing field.

Never know, could see Ipswich etc back in Europe or some other malarkey. Would be a larf.

Just my thoughts, but I reckon the reason for that is that people have bought into the new era
- and so anything that smacks of old Ev provokes a violent reaction.
There's deffo a bit of that but the starting line up was two fingers to the fans and the competition, and the fact it came within 48 hours of a press release making a big deal out of how seriously we were taking the cups this season emphasised that. The reason a lot of people, myself included, are perhaps disproportionately hacked off is that you could see right from the off that that was a losing side. Loads of people said it before kick off and it happened exactly as predicted. If a bunch of casuals on the internet could see it, there's a zero percent chance that Moyes couldn't. He just doesn't care about that cup and a lot of the fans are desperate for a pot. Look at how much it meant to the barcodes last season.
