Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Everything should line up when the season starts. No idea why it doesn’t. The transfer window did close once when the season started and it was much better.
Most teams are/were reliant on television monies being paid late August for cash flow purposes.

Teams exiting the European qualifying rounds also needed to adjust their squads and cut their cloth accordingly.

Unfortunately it makes for great uncertainty
in buying a new team shirt with a players name on when the season starts for the whole season.

Unjoined up thinking again and things the Premier League could improve on business wise.

I have spent the last ten minutes watching video of Dave Thomas skipping through scything 70s ‘tackles’ to deliver precision crosses hit on the run creating chance after chance and goal after goal. A thing of beauty. If Everton can find the 2020s Dave Thomas this window I will be happy as Larry, even if they give Michael Keane a new 5 year deal and appoint DCL head of Everton Fashions.

What a player Dave was. I bet Bob Latchford couldn't believe his luck playing with him

Largely agree with this but with the caveat that he was great at Atalanta, he looked the real deal. If it was just him playing poorly at United, then I'd swerve. But so many are underperforming which leans me towards the whole club being in disarray. Perhaps just too many square pegs in round holes, the result of a very disjointed transfer policy. Similar to us in lots of ways. Look how Lookman has thrived elsewhere, ironically at Atalanta.
I don't think Davey is the manager to get this guy firing. It would be a disaster imo.

I think my favorite gripe I've encountered on the forum over the last couple of days, is that the clearly identified dubious rumors emanating from clickbait site are providing underwhelming links to players despite the unlikeliness of the rumors 😂

Its funny how wound up some get about it, there are a small few of the higher strung patrons who click on garnadoldteam.com transfer rumor thread that expect Harvard referenced news, makes me chuckle, you feel some need to go outside and touch the grass.

It's way more than £200 million. When they list the players they missed off £45 million Sigurdsson just as one example.

When we ran out of money we did well to stay in the Premie League as the lowest spenders for years. There should be some credit to Kevin Thelwell for that.

Agreed mate, its way more, actually may go and have a look at our net spend under Moshiri.

From memory i think we brought in a fair amount of money also.

It was overall cost that killed us wages and amortization and an inability to move players on.

Amazing we went a built a stadium in the middle of all that to.

Lot of average to middling premier league players have gone to Serie A and looked good. Anguissa, Lukaku, Lookman, Tomori, McTominay, Kean.

Equally a lot of top players from Serie A have come here and looked out of their depth.

I'm not sure whether it's an environment thing (curse of Man U/Everton etc.) or whether Serie A is just a level below the other European leagues ATM in terms of quality and physicality. My thoughts are that it's the latter. 3 or 4 years ago I'd have advocated for using the Italian market to get good technicians on the cheap. Now I'd say to swerve!
