Is it just me or do we seem to have cornered the market in being linked to bang average or untested players, I might have a complex but I feel like other teams are focused on improvement while we are focused on recovering from all the bodies we are losing this summer...

Being linked has nothing to do with the team's focus. Links are mostly clickbait based on the writer's perception of the club and players who are available.

These fake sports writers either get their cues from clueless social media posts, which they refer obliquely as "reports" without any attribution so that it seems like there are legitimate sources somewhere, or else they look at Transfermarkt to see who's going to be available and then match that list against they're own idea of what kind of team Everton is and what positions they need. If they're feeling a little more ambitious, they look at players with one year left on their deals and start inventing "plots" and "schemes" and ideas about what Everton are "weighing."

Nothing legitimate is leaking out to the content farms and ad mills, and links are just noise in the wind.

We are being linked with dross because the Media see us at ‘relegation’ club Everton.

It will be like this till we aren’t viewed as candidates for relegation…the higher up the league you go…the better the quality of player linked.

Which helps to reduce the fume…we as a fanbase of suffering from PTSD from the Moshiri years
