Transfer Rumour Kyle Walker

About 50/50 on this one. Would prefer a long term view to replace Coleman but it could work out this way.

I guess the right back position might be seen as a stop gap for now and the concentration for long term vision is on more attacking/midfield positions. With O'Brien as cover then I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing.

If we want to base our transfer strategy around signing 20-25 year olds with good potential and high resale value, then it makes sense to twin this by accessing the free agent/loan/low fee market for experienced old heads. Basically the Brighton model

I'm therefore fine with Walker in theory. But in practice? Lot depends on the commercials. I'm also not convinced that right back is the area for one of these signings? surely it would be left back where we need the cover of an old pro

Plus the geezer likes to get his willy out in public, instant dislike

Don't underestimate the effect a player can have on a squad.

The right player can have a huge influence, why do you think we are keeping Coleman?

You answered your own point imo by naming the players he shared a dressing room with. He was very influential in that team, as important as any player, a regular international and has pockets full of medals, would you not think our young players could learn from someone like this?
I think it can be massively overblown to be honest. And while Coleman is undoubtedly a good bloke to have around, it's hard to reconcile him being a huge influence on performance levels with us being absolutely abysmal for much of the time he's been at the club.

Its a bar, albeit a low one.

Lots of brand new bars in around Bramley Moore Dock where he can expose his talent.

Was always going to be pushback signing anyone over the age of 28 this summer, yet was also inevitable.

If you believe in the work off the manager and new owners since they came in then you have to back their decision making.

On Walker himself, never thought he was a great defender to be honest, what he does it get you up the up pitch, offers a different dimension and gives you an extra man in advance positions and options of men coming inside and gives defenders a decision to make, while also being just alright at the back.

I can see why we are exploring that as we have a really good triarchy of Pickford, Branthwaite and JT - while Myko is better as an anchor - its worth the risk to commit one of out defenders further forward - we saw it with Jake and Young in different games.

Same just hope that isnt a deal with stupid money then stuck like we have with others in the past.
