Transfer Rumour Kyle Walker

Inappropriate Language
Don't underestimate the effect a player can have on a squad.

The right player can have a huge influence, why do you think we are keeping Coleman?

You answered your own point imo by naming the players he shared a dressing room with. He was very influential in that team, as important as any player, a regular international and has pockets full of medals, would you not think our young players could learn from someone like this?
Learn from what?

Unprofessional behavior?
How to be really quick?
How to pass the ball to Silva? De Bruyne? etc etc

Every single time Seamus Coleman gets brought up by an ex player or manager in the media all you hear from them is about how great he is, how professional, inspirational etc etc.
Seamus Coleman has 0 medals, Kyle Walker has tons

That doesn't mean that Kyle Walker would be a better influence around our younger players than Coleman

You saw it with Fabian Delph and his 'your all f$%Ging $hi%e' yells during games, that's not a 'winners mentality'

Walker hase probably been the best full back in the PL between 2016 & 2022. That's down to him being strong, athletic and really quick

My main worry over this is that we already have the 3rd oldest squad in the league (last season anyway) and am not keen on us continuing to pack it with players at the end of their careers or a ton of loan signings again.
Feels very short termist.

Young 39
Keane 32
Doucoure 32
Begovic 37
Calvert Lewin 28

All getting released

That leaves us with 4 players over 28, hardly Dads army

Coleman 36 (wont play much)
Gueye 35
Pickford 31
Tarkowski 32

Couldn't remember / never knew what the personal stuff was about, but just looked into it. Holy smokes, talk about whoops I did it again! John Terry-like bellendry.

IMO last seasons stats seem to suggest otherwise and at 28 he will only get slower. Pace was the main aspect of his game as even when he made mistakes (he makes quite a few) his speed dug him out the hole. I watched him a few times last year and his recovery pace is definitely not what it used to be and now his mistakes are there to be seen.

Someone posted his stats on pace the last few seasons.

none showing any signs of considerable drop off in performance and wouldnt expect it from pickford for some time.
walker on the other hand is massively in decline. he should go back to sheff utd, that's the level he's at now.

I think the 40 year old we had shuffling about Finch Farm probably brought that average age up quite a bit.
