Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don't actually want to sign him mate

But playing devil's advocate, I can understand why (if finances need to stretch to 8 to 10 players this summer) this is an option they'd consider. He's clearly past his best, but it's essentially a swap of Walker for Young Vs what our options were in the position last season and to me that represents an upgrade (albeit not as much of one as I was hoping we'd make).
I regard Young as the superior player, Walker would represent a downgrade .
Walker is damaged goods looking for a last payday .
I am refusing to pay these reports too much credence at the moment for my own sanity.

Isn't he a bit of a bad pro if rumours are to be believed over the course of his career, certainly couldn't say that about Young-y

He's a much, much worse footballer than Young. If obviously a bellend as a person and is slower these days than Young, when his entire game relied on pace. He's been a disaster in Italy by all accounts.
This. Excrement of a human being that shouldn’t be welcomed in to the dressing room. He’s shot, also. This has Moyes’ grubby mits all over it though. Nobody can say they’re surprised 🙄

When you say "last payday", surely we'd only be paying a portion of his wages as a loan?

Assuming it's real, he's going to want to be at the world cup (yes, that's fanciful as things stand), he would know that he'd have to play very well here to get ahead of Alexander-Arnold, Reece James, etc

I'll say it again to make sure all my devil's advocate stuff doesn't muddy the waters - I don't want him - but I do think everyone is going over the top about how he's suddenly become terrible after a poor 12 months and in particular a poor last half of the season where he missed half of Milan's games through injury.

I want us to sort the RB position out properly as it's an area where we aren't great, but if we have to go for a temporary solution because finances won't stretch to all the players we need, then ok, he wouldn't be top of my list for that either, but he'd 1 million per cent be ahead of Ashley Young.

That makes ZERO sense. If Coleman and Youngs legs have gone, why the hell bring in another one who’s legs have also gone? What’s wrong with bringing in a right back that can still actually run?
The point I was trying to make (and again, I don't want to sign him) is that even if it's by a small margin, we'd be better off than we were last season.

I’m ok with experience. I fully understand that some signings this summer will be loans or even stop gaps.
But this guy, who is well, well past his best would probably expect to be our highest earner. That just cannot happen.

Trophies he won at his prime with an all-conquering City side mean absolutely nothing in relation to the merits of us potentially signing him this summer.
