Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Fine, if you want to judge him by other metrics than pressing/defensive actions, how about his goals/assists and chances created. Are they good enough metrics to judge a footballer by?

Is he a world beater? No.

Is he right now the very least of our problems? Undoubtedly.

Very least of our problems would indicate he’s our best player. He’s definitely not in the top 5 (assuming Gana stays), so his place in the team, I would assume, is far from guaranteed.

If McNeil is starting games for us next season then we have failed this transfer window.
Maybe unless he is in good form getting goals ect, esp out wide we should be rotation players keeping them fresh and being able to change to give different options. Will agree like most players here they all need show more myko garner mcneil ect

Like has been pointed out, we were basically a set piece team and he took everyone, 75% of his assists are from set pieces and he’s only got over 3 goals twice in 7 years in the premier league. He’s not some goal and assist machine. It’s the fact we have hardly scored any goals in 2/3yrs people think his numbers of averaging 3/4 goals and 3/4 assists ( from open play) a season as some magnificent achievement. Ndiaye has out scored him in his first full season at Everton in 33 games.

He can occasionally run from deep when he has space and have a shot from distance, he scores 1, 2 at best from distance a season. He’s hardly takes on a full back, because he’s so slow, he constantly goes back or square. He won’t be at Everton after next season

Who’s hating on him? Just a difference of opinion, some including me don’t think he’s anything special and he won’t be part of the squad, if we have serious ambitions as a club

…I’d imagine it’ll take a few windows before the likes of McNeil is not ‘part of the squad’. He’ll be an important player for us next season, I’d be sure of that.
