Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I read somewhere that we’re under strict PSR constraints until 1st July due to when the new season financially starts.

If this is true we won’t see any new signings post Alcaraz until then when the spending ceiling is higher

Again not sure if it’s true though
Pretty sure United don't officially sign Cunha until 1st July, I assume for that reason, so it *shouldn't* stop any announcements, just delay the actual signing.

I don’t think targets reported in the press are just made up names. However, I think stuff ends up in the press if the players agent, selling club and buying club want it to be there.

Every club will be scouting 100’s, if not 1000’s, of players each season. Sending scouts. Talking with agents. Asking the selling club to be kept informed. Doing all that doesn’t mean you will necessarily bid for that player. It’s like a funnel where you’ll have 100’s of players at the top but only a few that come out at the end that you bid for.

I think you get reports in the press about players the club are looking at. That doesn’t necessarily equate to the club wanting to buy them. It’s here where there’s some artistic licence from the media in how interest in a player is reported as more concrete than it may actually be.
Yeah there's definitely a fair bit of naivete from fans about how links end up being reported I think. It certainly isn't just journalists randomly linking players to clubs on a whim, there's generally a reason why they appear (and it's not because 'they're just scared of us getting good' either).

If we did a Chelsea and sell Goodison to the women’s team for big money, then stick all the signings on 5-6 year deals it would definitely be possible.

except perhaps a free transfer, although you’d think they’d sign it off as late in June as possible.

Im sure yoh can still do deals and the. Sign them off July the 1st

We did a deal for Illy last year before the PSR deadline, maybe it wasn’t officially done until after.

The other thing was we sold Onana in July.

I’d suggest we were in a far worse PSR position last year.

Wel be working on deals without a doubt, the CL clubs are having their dinner first by the looks of it.

I’m fascinated to see how we approach it mate. From a market player selection point of view and how we manage it financially.

The loan market will be interesting - we’re used to getting in lads who aren’t getting a game elsewhere or the like. There are deals you can do at a higher end, loan fir a year before signing permanently - Arsenal did something like that with Raya.

10s a lot, especially with some established leaving, less so about quality - more the dynamic in the changing room and bedding in the team.
Assuming we have 100m before we broke PSR, 100m being generous, it’s impossible to sign 10 quality perm players at an average of 10m.

My guess is more likely 4 perm 4 loans, excluding Charly.

I'd be really surprised to see any deals officially go through before 1st July, but you can bet your bottom dollar that there'll be absolutely loads of work going on - the sheer number of players it looks like we are going to need to sign make it a must

The fact we offered deals to Young and Doucoure which were rejected probably tells you that the club didn't want to be in a position where we had to make the wholesale changes we are probably going to have to make - and that's before we know the outcome of DCL and Keane

Possibly, although any Bosman deals (like potentially Angel Gomes, for example) might change that dynamic slightly

Anyone else worried about the quality of players we have been linked with?
Mitrovic was the latest one this morning.
Calum Wilson another.
I just thought we would be finished with this type of player, maybe just press talk.

Plenty of time to sell the ground to ourselves by then.

And if we say that there is a deadline, we can demand a higher price from ourselves if we are that desperate to get the deal done with ourselves.
Let's be honest if we try something like that the PL will come down on us like a ton of bricks and make an example of us as per usual.

I wish the clubs would just vote against the PL on this. Obviously Chelsea should never have been allowed to get away with it in the first place but considering they have why should everyone else not be able to do the same thing?

They can agree & sign anytime then register/pay for them from 1st July.

Most contracts start on 1st July & end 30th June every summer.

The press have also linked us with Rayan Cherki so I suppose you could pick and choose paper talk links to believe based on how positive/negative you want to be. The fact is that newspaper links mean very, very little.
