Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

With the teams in for him , we were always down the pecking order.
All conjecture thus far. Don't believe the press as the only lead they have is Delap's agent working to improve his percentage fees.

He will have a choice to make, all of the clubs will be offering the same wage. It's down to him to choose whether he wants to be a squad/rotation option, or a regular starter.

Find it amusing that nothing has been announced, yet there are people commenting here, "never wanted him anyway". We're defeated as a fanbase.

Chelsea is where players careers go to die, but theres always a fresh lot of fools that believe they are so unbelievably good they will be one of the few to survive it.

A rational person would look at what theyve done to players and steer clear. But most young highly touted players dont have their head on straight and live in a bubble.

A player with anything about them will always bet on themself.

Grealish would prove we've learnt nothing. Stay well clear
To buy, sure.

A very intriguing option as a loan though. Imagine upgrading from Harrison to Grealish while just paying salary. Maybe even just a portion of salary

That's if he still has the fire, which I think he does.

As others have stated, it's probably a moot point anyway. But if Moyes thought he could get something out of him and the money made sense, I'd trust him

i like the look of this Diarra and supposedly we have long standing interest. i imagine that’s come from Thelwell, but i also imagine like in any other job he’s done a handover complete with targets and why they fit for us

if we could keep Gana for another year or two and bring him through alongside that could give us a really solid foundation there

Those Chelsea players must have hated winning a European Trophy this evening, just 4 days after qualifying for the Champions League - imagine they're kicking themselves at their choices.

The money won't make sense though that's the issue.

He's still a very good player. 300k a week or whatever he is on is madness though, its priced him out of anywhere else.

Lots of them are crap gamblers, though...

That's the silver lining for the rest of us: watch those with more ambition than intelligence/ability crash and burn in a fire of their own hubris.
It's a tough balancing act though. I get the feeling that we end up with a load of intelligent players who know they are not great so end up lacking any self belief to push on.

When was the last decent midfield we had in all seriousness? I feel like we say this all the time.

McCarthy and Barkley have sorted our midfield for the next decade here - they would both be gone within a few seasons

Gueye Schneiderlin and Klaasen will work for Koeman - it was probably the worst midfield I’ve ever seen

Gueye Gomes Siggurdson is the one under Silva - it wasn’t

Allan Doucoure James will be brilliant under Ancelotti - one of them was

Garner Gueye Onana Irogebunam have been different shades of average.

I can’t remember the last time we genuinely had a good midfield. Maybe 13/14 when McCarthy Barry Barkley went well together.

Even before that you’re probably going to 10 years before to Carsley Gravesen Cahill before you get a combination that you could rely on to play well together most games.

Considering some of the partnerships we’ve had at CB during this period it really has been a poor show for top class midfields.

Absolutely this was the last good midfield we had. Barry was still a very good player, McCarthy wrecked everything in sight and Barkley was a young talent that showed more than a few flashes of brilliance.

Arteta was a quality central midfielder and Gibson was actually a very good player too. But they were generally paired with Phil Neville who I always hated playing there. Totally out of his depth.
