Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The Grealish stuff only started because Andy Gray very tentatively mentioned we might be a good option for him, that’s literally it. He’ll be off to Villa on loan with City paying 70/80% of his wages I imagine.

Stats don’t pick up quality or weight of pass. They don’t pick up positioning. They don’t pick up off the ball movement that creates a space for others. There are lots of nuances in football that can’t be covered statistically. Stats are not necessarily sticky. They are dependent on circumstances and can often be random.
So.......you dont judge his play. You havent seen him play. You have no reason to believe he isnt good at those. I and everyone in the world knows stats dont tell the whole story about a player, but if you are going to come in and say a guy sucks, and ignore the actual verifiable statistical success he has had, you might want to provide SOME reason to believe. Otherwise its a logical fallacy to say "because stats sometimes dont show the truth, therefore stats for this guy dont show the truth". You are just being negative and contrary for the sake of being negative and contrary.

And if stats are so random, how come he gets double digit goals and assists every year? Is McNeils success random compared to Harrison? Is Ndiayes success random compared to Lindstrom? As everyone int he world knows there is variation from stats but theres a literal reason we keep it. Its a realllllly good indication someone is doing something successfully.

Ndaiye went to Marseille at 23, Alcaraz was in the prem at 20. Hamer is 28 and joined a championship side that got promoted, like he will join again. It will be a complete waste of money, we can get a free or a loan who will offer something very similar. Weren’t looking to just survive next season, were looking to kick on, that’s not happening with Hamer and we shouldn’t be spending decent money on back up 28yr olds
No PL team wanted Ndiaye at 24. No PL team wanted Alcaraz at 22. Thats YOUR argument that if they were good other teams would have wanted them. Hamer was in the PL at 25 and played well. You criticize him for joining a team that got promoted, and punish him for playing his actual contract for a team that got relegated, nonsense.

If you’re seeing lads lighting up latter stages of European tournaments on your tv and think ‘oh Everton should get him’. You’re too late.

Cherki will be able to choose whoever he wants to play for. There’s no way he’d ever come here, he could easily play for City Barca PSG or Bayern. If the RS don’t get Wirtz they’d prob move for him.

You are correct, but there's only so many super duper clubs to go around. If the RS are getting Wirtz, then they aren't getting Cherki. If City are getting Cherki, then they aren't getting Mbuemo. If Newcastle get Mbuemo, then they aren't getting Semenyo etc etc, you get the point.

And that's before acknowledging that not everyone is going to be in the market for a wing forward. Manchester United need an entire new team, but their funds are going to be limited. They may not be in a position to prioritise or even afford a quality wing forward.

My point being that some of these players will not be able to click their fingers and get the contract of their dreams at the club of their choice. Some of them will have to move to a club below the elite tier if they are moving this summer. Mbuemo has just a year left on his contract and will no doubt be moving, but what club is going to meet Brentford's asking price whilst also turning down all these other superstar forwards that are available and supposedly want to sign for them?

I agree but I always worry that Everton get the most expensive worst option.

E.g we shell out 40 million for Siggurdson whilst the top clubs are picking up the younger better players for often an even cheaper price

Basically I don’t want us to be left bidding 50 mill for Mbeumo whilst City or Liverpool pick up Cherki for less than that, but that’s the modern transfer market unfortunately it shafts the have nots.

That was Moshiri and his vanity project Sigurdsson…doubt TFG need the ego boost to pull that crap again. Don’t even like being interviewed
