I feel a bit like that too, as someone who didn’t want Moyes and is now feeling a bit silly. I read that we would still have stayed up with just the points from Moyes tenure which if that’s right is quite the achievement and makes me wonder where we would be if he had been with us for the whole season.
It does make you think it will be a long time before Dyche works again in the Premier League.
Moyes doesn’t have the job long term I think but he will leave a very settled club for the new guy.
First time around I think that Moyes reign was pretty mixed. Initially he saved us and restored pride. We then played some great football with the likes of Pienaar and Baines but by the end it all became a bit stale and you got the impression that Moyes was setting up the team not to lose rather than win. The way he left and conduct as Man U manager was disrespectful to Everton.
I was extremely unhappy at the appointment of Dyche but to be fair he did well to keep us up but in doing so played some of the most negative, boring football I've ever seen Everton play.
Because of a number of factors not least of which was our perilous league position and PSR constraints I thought that Moyes was the right appointment to keep us up , stabilise the club and buy time to rehabilitate our finances for a younger progressive manager to take over in the future.
However Moyes has massively surpassed my expectations. With the same group of players he has transformed the spirit , performances and results. I think he is undoubtedly the right man for the next couple of seasons and with judicious spending and support he can restore us to the top 8 and be able to challenge at the top table.
Totally share
@Terrarian view that we have a really interesting and crucial summer ahead. I'm excited for our future for the first time in ages.
Well this is a nice change ...we feel sufficiently happy in our club that we are actually talking about football!
Anyway fingers crossed that it stays dry for the rest of the day and I can cut the grass . Ran overnight, sunny in the day , it's not too much to ask is ?
Good to hear that
@Val P is getting her sling off - mind you didn't stop her from quaffing vino chez moi - only joking , she had one glass ( unlike me ).
Hope that
@anjelikaferrett is starting to get over the accident.
Have a lovely day everyone
Good morning all on this fine day here .such terrible news yesterday in town. I hope all are well and had a good night , I am in the same mind as
@jazzy and
@Val P in that I wasn't happy with his appointment but I have to agree he is doing a fine job and we will need a little more luck with the new owners than we had with the accountant who couldn't but must be accountable for the mess .
I firmly believe that this is solely a business transaction with no deep feelings for anything but money and success and to be honest that will do me .COYB
You've misread my post. I was very happy with the re-appointment of Moyes. As I said right man right time .
I thought he would stabilise us and ensure safety but he had done way more than that
