Players definitely care about architecture. The reverence which Anfield and Old Trafford get spoken about makes that obvious. Dortmund in similar boat. Whether they care for ours or Spurs new stadium is a different matter and only time will tell.Players don’t care about architecture.
They care about trophies and wages .
And all clubs have passionate supporters, we aren’t the exception we sometimes imagine.
That leaves us ,as you rightly point out , as a middling club who may provide a stepping stone to better things .
Hardly inspiring or overly enticing?
I won’t be getting my Dixie tattoo covered by a rendering of the Hill Dickinson Stadium just yet !
Forgotten who I was talking to, but I actually got laughed at recently for suggesting that we'd been linked to Delap. "As if he'd go to Everton" I think was the response. Well, if he does choose us, and we get him in early, its certainly going to raise a few eyebrows in the media! He will listen to his father, perhaps if we get Rory in as a long throw specialist we will steal a march on the others. It would boil the media's pish if he comes to us.

He said it in a podcast, though that pretty much is verbatim what he saidCan't find the actual tweet by him, or has he said it on a podcast or something?
You would be surprised by our upward trajectory over the second half of the season.Players don’t care about architecture.

I see what you're saying now, that's what i wasn't sure on.But that’s a variation of the offside rule when play is behind the keeper. The rule change back then to be onside was:
Attacker
Defender Defender
Keeper
he would have been class as offside with today’s rule of just 1 defender between attacker and keeper.
Before the 2 defenders, it used to be 3
That strategy has the added bonus (though it can be hard to see it) of being self-selecting, too.Encouraging if true. This was always the model to revive the club, offer young players the opportunity to prove their talents and then sell for a big profit.
If he's smart he will see this is the best move for his career also.
Make up your mind then haIt will probably end up not happening... But, I've had a hunch for a while now, that he's going to sign for us.
I don't mind players seeing us as a stepping stone. I'd rather we sign players with sights on being the best.Don't really like the headlines for Everton on this.
Proactively admitting we want him, and then publicly admitting we're at a disavantage/blackball, an now ref to how the club have positioned themselves as happy just for short term stepping stone.
If he signs, it's a patronising head pat to a feeder club.
If he doesn't, it's a collective shrug from black ball FC and anyone who comes in afterwards, was never the priority.
Everton, at BMD, new owners, a club that's getting back on it's feed and building with statement signing to build for the future should be the narrative - even if it is Ipswich Town's England U21 striker.

We are a viable step to the very top of the game, and it's mutually beneficial to sign players who want to get there.
