Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

The big oversight for us was in January when we didn’t try for McTominay. Always played decent for United, consistent if not spectacular but had an eye for a goal as he does for Scotland. Now bossing it in a very tough league to score goals.
If there was ever a more Moyes-type player……..

Defo Moyes would be a huge fan of his…..

You have a life cycle in Naples - it’s never terribly long.

One of my friends is an united supporter and for some reason , a Mctominay super fan. According to him ,Mctominay has really embraced Italian culture and the scenic environment, along with the fans in Napoli are gaga about him, so I envision Mctominay staying in Serie A for awhile

Comes under 'and the rest' - Garner can be great on his day. Tim as well. Armstrong could get a shot, still don't know about Mangala either.

In an ideal world yeah, but got to be realistic with what we can do in one window!

Garner has played very well on one day against Leicester, can't remember another game that he stood out to be honest, maybe when he played right back?

Our midfield needs replacing with only Gana being the exception, this is the biggest job we have, so can understand the various links around to increase the quality of the squad!

News from Ex Wham fella is that Soucek is staying with them and will be offered a new contract

Hopefully with Doucoure leaving this will mean we keep Alcaraz

Current state of play, we have just 12 contracted players as we head into 2025/26 at the new stadium with just 6 of them classed as 'Home Grown'. A Premier League squad can have a maximum of 25 players, with a maximum of 17 of those players not being classified as "Home Grown".

We have 7 players that are confirmed to be leaving, 2 of which featured prominently this year with 5 players reaching the end of their loan, 3 featuring prominently this season.

3 players could join the list of those leaving or could accept new deals. While we didn't trigger the clause on Alcaraz, it's possible we may still make a bid, unknown on the status of the rest.

First-Team Players for 2025/26 Season: 12
Pickford (HG)
Branthwaite (HG)
Tarkowski (HG)
Mykolenko
Patterson
O'Brien
Garner (HG)
Iroegbunam (HG)
McNeil (HG)
Ndiaye
Beto
Chermiti

Potential Youth Call Ups:
Armstrong (HG)

Leaving (End of Contract/Sales): 7
Young (HG)
Virginia (HG)
Begovic (HG)
Doucoure
Holgate (HG)
Maupay
Crellin (HG)

Leaving (End of Loan): 5
Alcaraz
Harrison (HG)
Lindstrom
Broja (HG)
Mangala

Re-Signed: 1
Coleman (TBC Player or Coach)

Unknown:
Gueye
Keane
DCL

Taking into account all of this...it is going to be a MAMMOTH job to fill out a squad for next season. Gana re-signing is going to be crucial, perhaps Keane & DCL too. We might call up Armstrong, nothing is indicating we'll call up any of the other youth team players.

For me, we need (in priority order):

Reserve GK (Free/Loan/Prospect)
Starting RB
Starting DM (If Gueye Leaves)
Starting AM
Starting/Competing LB
Starting/Competing ST
Backup Keeper (Free/Promote from Youth)

And the rest...

Anyone else crapping one?

If you add Armstrong + promote Tyrer + extend Gana + sign Alcaraz = 16 players.

Mimic last summer with 7 signings = 23.

The Moyes and Kinnear comments are major hyperbole.

Surely only if Branners goes. He would be expecting to be first choice if he even entertained us!

Yes i think its just lies...

LB: Mykolenko
CB: Branthwaite, Bisseck, Tarkowski
RB: O'Brien, Patterson

Thats a decent foundation and a LB away from a very good back 4.

We are 100% signing Angel Gomes. He's wanted, he's available, and he's James Garner's literal best friend.

Selling him is one of many reasons why they are in such a mess. He was arguably their most consistent performer over the past few seasons, got them crucial goals and gave his all when he played. It's players like him they need but with that clubs notions of grandeur they couldn't see it and just bought crap on higher wages.

Could be a smart signing for the Doucoure role. Seems to have recovered well from his injury too. Wonder how much he would go for

Edit. Actually seen he has been injured a couple times since returning from his ACL injury. Might be too much of a risk
Shame. Didn't he get player of year in Serie A previously?
